If getting out of bed feels hard this morning,
You're not alone.
For the next few minutes,
You don't have to be anywhere.
Allow yourself to stay in bed.
There's nowhere to rush right now.
Feel the surface beneath you,
The warmth around you,
The quiet rhythm of your breath.
You are not behind.
You are simply waking.
Take a slow breath in through your nose and allow it to release naturally.
Again,
A gentle inhale and an easy exhale.
This is your transition space.
Not asleep,
Not fully active,
Just arriving.
Bring your awareness to your face,
Your eyelids,
Your jaw,
The tiny muscles around your mouth.
Invite the smallest softening.
Now,
Notice your shoulders,
Your arms resting,
Your chest and stomach rising and falling.
Allow your breath to become slightly deeper,
Not forced,
Just a little fuller.
Imagine each inhale bringing a soft light into your body.
Just a gentle light,
A gradual warming.
If it feels natural,
Adjust your body slightly.
Stretch your arms and legs slowly under the blankets and allow your body to wake up before your mind starts.
Now,
Gently allow the thought of your day to enter your awareness.
Notice what happens in your body.
Is there tension,
Pressure,
A subtle resistance?
You might hear thoughts like,
I should get up,
I have so much to do,
I'm already behind.
Just notice.
Recrastination often isn't laziness,
It's anxiety.
It's the nervous system bracing against overwhelm.
So,
Instead of pushing yourself,
Let's reduce the pressure.
Silently say,
I don't need to do everything right now.
And take a breath.
And silently repeat,
I only need to begin.
Take a moment to notice the difference between do everything and begin.
And allow your body to respond.
Now,
Ask yourself gently,
What is one small thing I can start today?
Just one clear,
Manageable beginning.
Let it be simple.
Even just enjoying a warm beverage.
And notice how your body feels when the task is small.
Resistance often softens when things feel doable.
Stay with that feeling for a few breaths.
This is where motivation grows.
Not from pressure,
But from possibility.
While lying down for a few more breaths,
You don't need to get up just yet.
Hold on to that one small beginning in your awareness.
And notice what happens in your body when the task feels manageable.
Maybe there's a little more space in your chest.
Maybe your breath feels easier.
Maybe there's simply neutrality.
This is where natural motivation begins.
It feels steady.
It feels possible.
It feels within reach.
Take a slow inhale and allow the inhale to carry a sense of willingness.
And as you exhale,
Allow your body to settle into the willingness.
You don't need a surge of energy.
A quiet readiness is enough.
There is strength in steadiness.
There is energy in beginning.
Today,
You move from that steadiness.
You begin gently.
And gentle beginnings build momentum.
Deepen your breath slightly.
And feel a little more awakefulness spreading through you.
When your body feels ready,
Not because you should,
But because it's time.
You might slowly stretch.
Maybe roll onto your side.
Maybe linger for another breath.
And when it feels natural,
Allow yourself to sit up.
Let it happen as a continuation of the meditation.
Not a separate task.
Notice the quiet shift from rest to upright.
You are already in motion.
Take one more slow breath.
And when you're ready,
Open your eyes.
The day is waiting.
And you can meet it on your own time.
