Welcome to this practice of grounding ourselves and growing roots to help us feel more present in the moment.
So just taking a moment to land in the space that you're in.
You might allow your eyes to float around the space that you're in.
Just taking a moment to orient to where you are right now.
And then whenever you feel ready,
Just gently closing your eyes or lowering your gaze.
You might notice the sounds in the space around you.
Noticing the sounds outside the space.
Noticing the temperature of the air as it makes contact with your skin.
It might be warm or it might be cool.
You might notice movement in the air or it might feel still.
Just allowing your attention to come into the points of contact with the surface beneath you.
Just noticing where those points are,
Whether any points of contact feel stronger or softer than others.
You might allow your attention to come into the breath.
Just noticing the gentle rhythm of the breath as it moves in and out of your body.
Noticing an expansion on the inhale and a subsiding on the exhale.
Feeling curious about where you feel this movement in your body.
Maybe in the belly or in the ribs,
Maybe in your chest.
You may be able to feel some movement of the breath in the back.
Just noticing these gentle movements in the body as the breath comes in and out.
And allowing your attention to come back to the points of contact with the surface beneath you.
And you might use the out-breath just to soften down into these points of contact.
Just releasing down further into these points.
Each time you're breathing out,
Just letting go of any holding,
Any effort.
Just softening down,
Giving your weight up to gravity.
And you might start to imagine that where you're softening down into these points of contact,
You can start to grow roots gently downwards into the earth.
Just using that out-breath to gently grow these roots,
This connection down into the earth,
Into the surface beneath.
And you can just breathe into these roots,
Allowing a sense of steadiness,
A feeling of being grounded and connected,
Allowing a sense of the earth supporting you,
Holding you in these roots.
Just allowing yourself to be held in this way,
Letting go of any effort,
Inviting ease and softness with this steady,
Rooted way of being.
You might like to take some slow breaths,
Just resting down in this grounded place.
And slowly just allowing your attention to come back up those roots and into the points of contact with the surface beneath you.
You might notice the movement of your breath,
Expansion and the subsiding.
Noticing the sounds in the space around you,
The sounds outside the space.
If it feels supportive,
You could invite some gentle movement or stretching,
Could wiggle fingers and toes,
Whatever feels best for you.
And when you feel ready,
Just gently opening your eyes or raising your gaze,
Just allowing your eyes to float around the space that you're in once again,
Just landing back.
