Lauren Burling

Clinical Social Worker/Therapist, LCSW

We all have fundamental needs: To belong, to feel understood, to give and receive love, to feel financially secure, to be free from pain. My approach to therapy begins with addressing acute stressors, to then exploring core basic needs like sleep, nutrition and social connections. I work with individuals to develop an awareness into emotional states and behaviors that arise out of them. Sometimes, it is the actions of others that are the primary source of our own distress. Even then, we can focus on what is in our control to improve our coping and circumstances. My approach draws from an eclectic mix of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. I am also a mom, wife, and find joy in creative endeavors like quilting and gardening.
