Ever feel like a hard moment pulls you under and you get sucked in fast? In Peter Levine's Somatic Experiencing, that is called the trauma vortex, though it can just as easily be a stress, anxiety, depression, craving, or pain vortex. This short video introduces the concept of the counter vortex, the opposite pull we can actively build using sensation, imagery, behavior, emotion, and meaning to steady the nervous system instead of overwhelming it. It is a core skill we practice in my course, 'The Body Is the Way.' The more you practice building your counter vortex, the more your nervous system learns it has somewhere steadier to go. *Please note: This track discusses sensitive topics regarding trauma and mental health. It is intended for educational and supportive purposes and does not replace professional medical or psychological care.* ~ Katie
