Hello and welcome to this autumn equinox meditation.
Just finding yourself in a comfortable position where you can be undisturbed for the next few moments.
And we're going to take some time to slow down as the earth begins to transition into a season that is more restful than summer.
So just taking a moment now to observe your body.
Is there anything you notice immediately?
Maybe some tension or discomfort?
Starting at your feet,
How do they feel?
Are they cold?
Are they warm?
Do they have a tingling sensation?
Are they heavy?
Your legs,
Are they stiff?
Or do they feel like they're melted into the surface?
To your pelvis,
How does this feel physically?
Now to your chest space,
Notice your breath.
How are you breathing today?
Is it deep?
Slow breaths?
Are they shallow?
Taking a moment now to notice your heartbeat.
How does your heart feel today?
Bring your attention to your throat.
Is there any tightness?
Perhaps you might like to release a long breath.
How do your shoulders feel?
Notice how they are positioned.
Are they raised towards your ears?
Or are they relaxed away from your face?
Moving to your face now,
Let's observe your jaw.
Are you clenching?
Perhaps you feel the need to move your jaw or to loosen.
You might like to gently massage this area.
Finally moving up to your eyebrows,
Just noticing the space here.
Is there any tightness?
And again I invite you to create any movement that might help move any energy here.
It might be a wiggle or a massage.
Some light tapping along your brow line.
And once again just becoming aware of your whole body.
I invite you now to touch or massage any areas of tension.
Can you feel a sense of peace?
Just making any readjustments you need.
The autumn equinox is the midpoint of the astrological year.
The earth enters a new phase of her cycle.
In the southern hemisphere she is ready to bloom in spring,
Full of potential.
And here in the northern hemisphere she is ready to let go and to surrender.
Having journeyed through spring and summer,
It's now time for her to shed and to soften.
Autumn is the season of release.
Nature displays a change.
The summer blooms begin to fade.
The trees,
The leaves change colour.
In the early days of autumn they turn like bright hues of oranges,
Reds and yellows.
And as autumn progresses they crisp to a brown as the breeze allows them to fall away.
At the point of the equinox,
In early autumn,
We really begin to notice change.
The mornings are cooler.
And while the days are still warm and sunny,
The evenings soon draw in.
Each day,
Sooner and sooner.
And then noticeably cooler as well.
We tend to feel called to seek comfort with a blanket.
And as autumn progresses,
Nature becomes more vivid and vibrant.
The trees begin to look bare but the floor is a carpet of leaves.
So I'd like you to take yourself now and imagine that it's early morning and you're walking through an open space.
And just notice that the grass is a mix of green and beige.
Each shard is lightly coated in droplets of dew.
And there's a light moisture in the air.
And in the distance you can see the layer of mist that hovers over the horizon.
And very slowly you notice the sun is beginning to emerge from this cloudy layer.
The field is surrounded by trees.
Just take a moment now to notice their colours.
As you observe them,
You notice a small clearing in between the trees.
And you feel called to explore it.
It's making your way towards the clearing now.
And as you land here,
You notice that this is an entrance to a woodland.
And peering inside it looks like an enchanted place.
And you begin to walk through to take a look.
You can hear the crunch of sticks and leaves beneath you.
And you look around and above you,
The canopy of branches whispering as the air moves through.
And the sunlight dancing through the leaves.
Take time now to notice the smell of the forest.
When you look at the ground,
You can see the movement of the sunlight and the shadows.
The beams of light that are dancing at your feet.
And lining this path,
You notice the first fall of leaves.
And as you journey deeper,
The trees get bigger.
And they look ancient and wise.
And their leaves are beginning to change colour.
And what was once a palette of green shades,
Now shows hints of yellow,
Red and rusty oranges.
Ahead of you is a fallen tree laying amongst the trees.
A perfect log to rest upon.
Take a moment now to find a place to sit.
And as you sit here,
You watch the breeze move through the treetops.
You notice the stirring of animals.
And the leaves surrendering to their grip and falling away.
And they don't cling,
They just allow themselves to fall away gracefully.
You see a small animal in the distance.
It might be a little bird gathering berries,
Or a squirrel collecting acorns.
And there is so much life around you.
Take a moment now to consider your inner landscape.
Maybe something is changing for you.
Maybe something that isn't what it used to be.
Quite often autumn is referred to the season of letting go.
And while there are some things that we reach a point where we are ready to let go of,
It doesn't necessarily mean that we have to forget about it and pretend like it never existed.
Sometimes it's just an opportunity for us to reframe how we remember it.
Autumn is a time when nature prepares for the dormancy of winter.
The animals gather sticks and food.
Take them back to their nests and homes to see them through the winter months.
When you think about storing for winter,
What are the things that you wish to keep with you?
As the daylight hours begin to wane,
Consider how you spend your time.
What does your busyness look like?
Are you spending time doing the things that you love?
Can you find joy in the mundane?
Just take a moment now to see if anything else comes up for you.
Just becoming aware of your whole body again.
How do you feel in this space,
This equinox?
Are you ready to shed and surrender?
I'd just like to invite you now to maybe bring your hands together and start rubbing them to create some heat.
And just placing them over your body.
It doesn't matter where,
It might be your heart space,
It might be drawn to your belly.
You might feel more comfortable having one hand on top of the other.
Whatever feels good for you.
And you might want them on your body or you might like to place them just slightly on top.
Just taking a moment to notice your energetic field.
What do you feel here?
Is it a warming sensation?
Is there any movement you can feel?
Maybe you feel like you're radiating energy.
Or perhaps you feel like something is stagnant and a bit stuck.
I'm just inviting you now to taking a deep cleansing breath.
I'm just sending the breath right to this space.
And on the exhale,
Visualize it leaving your body space.
Just taking in another deep breath.
Cleansing this space.
And on the exhale,
Allowing it all to release.
And just placing your hands back to wherever they feel comfortable for you.
And just thanking yourself for taking this time to sit and observe your inner landscape.
And so just visualizing yourself back in this woodland.
This enchanted space by your log that you sat down.
And just making your way back through towards the clearing.
And at this clearing,
You turn around and take one last look at this woodland.
Knowing that you can return here any time that you need to.
And as you step out into the field,
You notice that the sun has risen above the horizon.
And this misty layer has dissipated.
You can feel that it's going to be a beautiful,
Warm,
Sunny,
Autumnal day.
And just bringing yourself back into your body.
And becoming aware of the room you're in.
Thank you for taking time to join me today on this autumn equinox.
And I send you lots of blessings for the season ahead.
Take care.

That was lovely Fi. In the forest on the log I had my brother with me. He in in hospice and it was so healing to just sit with him as he was and be grateful for all we have shared in our life together.
