Let's prepare to meditate.
Adjust your body so that you are sitting comfortably.
Close your eyes.
Rest your hands on your lap in any way that is comfortable for you.
Take a nice filling breath in.
Breathe deeply in through your nose and breathe out slowly through your mouth.
Do this again.
Now when you exhale,
Breathe out with a long sigh.
Do this breathing again a few more times to settle your mind and body.
You are ready to begin.
Today,
We will try to notice where each of the elements live in our body,
Fire,
Water,
Air and earth.
Imagine looking at a landscape,
Seeing evidence of the element of air,
The breeze,
Birds flying,
Trees swaying and the grasses dancing.
What else do you see as evidence of air?
Now focus your attention on your real body.
Imagine somewhere you think air lives in your body.
Notice it there.
Where do you feel air in your body?
Now picture seeing the element of water in nature.
How many ways can you think of that you see water in nature?
Focus once again on your real body now.
Scan your body with your mind and imagine where water lives within you.
Try to feel it there.
Imagine water in your body.
Now for fire.
Picture how you see fire in the world,
A campfire,
Smoke,
Hot coals,
A candle,
The sun,
Lava.
Fire is an element full of energy.
Scan your body and try to imagine where it lives.
Where do you feel it?
Imagine it there.
Lastly imagine earth.
What do you think of when you think of earth and mother nature?
Imagine the strength of a stone or the life of a newly sprouted plant.
Scan your body for earth and imagine where earth lives within you.
Imagine it there.
Take a moment now to revisit where you felt these elements within you.
Where did you feel the energy of fire?
Where do you feel the calming quality of water?
Where do you feel the peace and healing of air?
Where do you feel the life and strength of earth?
Take a moment now just to relax and enjoy the elements in your body.
As our meditation comes to a close,
Draw your attention back to your real body.
Notice and feel where your body is touching the floor or chair.
Wiggle your fingers.
Wiggle your toes.
Take a deep breath.
Now go ahead and stretch out your body in any way that feels good to you.
When you are ready,
Open your eyes.
Now go out and find the magic in your day.
