Good morning and welcome to your morning practice.
This 10 minutes belongs to you entirely,
Before the noise,
Before the to-do list,
And before the world asks anything of you.
In the next few minutes,
We are going to wake up the body with the breath.
Set a clear intention for your day and fill your heart with gratitude.
Let's begin.
Find a comfortable seat.
Cross-linked on the floor.
Or on your bed or upright in a chair.
Whatever works for you this morning.
And sit tall.
Feel the crown of your head lifting up to the ceiling.
Roll your shoulders up,
Back and down.
Open your chest.
Rest your hands on your knees,
Palms facing up.
Open and ready to receive.
Now close your eyes.
And take a moment to simply arrive here.
Feel the ground beneath you.
Feel the stillness of this moment.
Before the day has begun.
And take a breath in through the nose.
And sigh out through your mouth.
Again,
Breathe in.
And let go.
One more time.
Deep breathe in.
And release.
AHHHHHHHHH Good morning body.
Good morning mind.
We are here.
We are awake.
And now let's wake up our energy.
Sit up even taller.
So we'll begin with three rounds of breath of fire,
Short sharp pumps through the nose that ignite your inner fire and clear out any sluggishness.
So place one hand on your belly.
Short,
Sharp exhale through the nose.
Inhale happens automatically and let's begin slowly as you find the breath.
Inhale.
Let's continue at our own pace.
The exhales are active.
Inhales are passive.
And now,
Release.
Take a deep breath in through the nose.
Hold it at the top.
Exhale slowly through the nose.
And feel that energy moving.
And let's continue for round two.
Maybe a little faster this time or maybe at the same pace.
Take a deep breath in.
And let's continue at our own pace.
Now let's release.
Take a deep breath in.
Hold.
And let go.
And we'll do this one last round at your own pace,
Your own rhythm.
Now let's release.
Inhale fully.
Hold.
Exhale completely.
And now feel the buzz in your body.
The tingling.
The aliveness.
And this is you.
Fully awake,
Fully alive.
And now we'll slow it down.
Three rounds of extended exhale breaths to balance your nervous system.
Inhale for count of 4 1 2 3 4 Exhale for 6 1 2 3 4 5 6 Inhale 1 2 3 4 Exhale 1 2 3 4 5 6 more inhale 1 2 3 4 exhale 1 2 3 4 5 6 and now let the breath return to normal and sit quietly for a moment Now bring your hands to your heart,
Both palms stacked gently over the centre of your chest.
And feel your heartbeat.
Feel the warmth.
This is the part of you that knows exactly what you need today.
I want you to ask yourself silently,
Gently.
One simple question.
How do I want to feel today?
Not what I need today.
And not what do I need to do,
Not what's on my list.
How do I want to feel?
Maybe the answer is calm.
Maybe it's confident.
Maybe it's open or joyful or grounded.
Whatever word or feeling arises,
Hold it.
Now shape that feeling into a single short statement,
A statement that begins with I am or I chose.
Something like I am calm and clear in everything I do.
Find your own word.
Words that feel true.
Words that feel like coming home.
And repeat your intention to yourself three times now,
Slowly,
Meaningfully.
As if you're planting a seed deep in the soil of your morning.
This intention is yours and carry it with you.
Return to it whenever the day pulls you away.
Now keep your hands on your heart.
Now we'll shift into gratitude because what we appreciate expands.
And I'm going to guide you through three layers of gratitude.
Stay with each one fully before you move to the next.
The first layer,
Your body.
Take a breath,
Feel grateful for this body that carried you through the night,
Your lungs that breathe without being asked,
Your heart that beats all night without your help.
Your body showed up for you.
It always does.
Silently say thank you to your body.
Specifically,
What is it doing right now that you are grateful for?
The second layer,
Your life.
Think of one thing in your life right now,
Big or small.
That you feel genuinely grateful for.
It could be a person.
A roof over your head,
A cup of tea,
A friendship.
The light coming through the window this morning.
Whatever it is.
Feel it.
Don't just think it.
Feel the warmth of it in your chest.
And the third layer today.
Today has not happened yet.
It is completely open,
Full of possibilities.
Feel grateful for one thing that hasn't happened yet,
Something you're looking forward to,
Or something you're choosing to welcome in.
Maybe it's a conversation,
A moment of stillness,
An achievement,
Or simply making it through the day with your open heart.
Feel grateful for it now,
As if it has already happened.
And take one final deep breath in.
Breathe in all that gratitude,
All that possibility,
All that energy and breathe out sending it forward into your day.
And now slowly blink your eyes open.
Let the light come in gently.
You have just given yourself one of the most powerful gift you can.
You started your day with intention,
With breath and with a grateful heart.
This is not a small thing.
This changes everything.
Go into your day knowing that you're not just existing.
You're feeling,
You're alive and you're here on purpose.
Bring your palms together at your heart.
Take a deep breath in through the nose.
You out through the mouth.
Namaste.
