Today we visit and address a situation in your life that is causing you some pain,
Some emotional turmoil.
And we do so,
So that we can lessen that heaviness,
That burden that you are feeling.
We do this so that we can move forward in our life.
And to begin,
Let's drop into a relaxed state.
Allow your body to soften.
Allow yourself to settle into a deeper state of relaxation.
And know that even though we will be coming back to an event in your life that feels heavy,
That there might be pain attached to,
That in this moment you are safe.
Remind yourself that in this moment,
All is well.
And as you do,
We can soften.
Soften the muscles in the bones.
Feel your internal organs sigh out and let go.
Allow your eyes to feel heavy and soften your gaze.
And relax into this moment.
And in this space where you are relaxed,
In this place where you are safe,
Bring to mind something in your life.
Something from the past that has been pulling at your attention.
An event that still is very much here in this present moment.
One that is still emotional,
Still feels heavy or painful.
Bring this event to mind.
And I remind you that you are okay,
You are safe.
And although there might be a heaviness in the chest,
The breath might be moving a bit faster.
There might be pain.
We will get through this together.
And now let's project what you are remembering onto a movie screen.
And you,
My dear,
Are sitting in the theater watching this movie.
Remind yourself of everything you can about this event.
Remind yourself what you were wearing.
Imagine you could look down and see exactly what you were wearing in this moment.
Bring to mind,
If there were people with you,
Who were they?
Who are they to you?
What are they wearing?
Remember where you were.
And think about everything in that space.
The colors,
The scent,
The openness,
Or the closedness.
What do you remember about this place?
And what were you thinking?
Were you thinking,
Were the emotions moving so fast that there wasn't time to think?
Only time to react.
And if that was true,
What were you feeling?
What were the emotions moving through you?
Anger,
Or rage,
Fear?
And as you think about what you were feeling,
Notice what your body was experiencing.
If the air was cool or warm.
If you could feel your clothes touching your skin.
Or maybe if there was something or someone nearby,
You could sense their beingness.
What was your body experiencing?
Could you smell anything?
The scent of the air,
The scent of the outside.
The scent of their breath,
Of the body,
If there was someone next to you.
Their cologne,
Their perfume.
And what was it that you were saying?
So let's come back and visualize this happening on this screen.
This big screen.
It's all happening in front of you.
And as it does,
It almost feels like you are back in that moment.
The emotions are still elevated in the body.
The sensations are still vivid.
You can see,
You can hear,
You can feel,
You can sense it all.
Almost as if it's happening right now.
But it's not happening right now.
And so now let's imagine that instead of watching this movie,
Your movie,
On the big screen,
Let's visualize it on a television,
Something smaller.
Maybe a laptop.
You can still see the movie playing out,
But it's much smaller.
Not as compelling.
You can see the events happening.
And maybe you can still sense the emotions that are attached.
Because it's so close to you.
Because at one time you did experience this.
But it's a little further away.
A little more distance.
Maybe you can no longer smell the scent that was around you.
You cannot look around to see what else is happening in the nearby environment.
There is just you and this small screen projecting an event.
And now let's create a little more distance.
And now as we watch this event on the screen,
We lose the color.
Everything is black.
Or white.
Or gray.
It's not as vivid.
It's not as bright.
We can no longer see the color of our clothes or the environment around us.
The sounds are a little more faint further away.
I can still feel a little bit of the emotion attached to this event.
But it almost feels like it's happening to someone else.
Not to me,
But to someone else.
And I can be empathetic.
I can feel compassion.
But it doesn't pull at my heart quite the same.
It doesn't feel like my emotions are quite as strong.
Maybe you notice that your breath has slowed just a bit.
And that you're breathing into the belly.
And your body feels much more calm.
That your heart is not beating quite as fast.
And you feel more relaxed.
That you can revisit this event.
And not be so emotionally attached to it.
It's a story,
Yes.
It might be an important story.
But I have many stories in my life.
And this is only one of them.
And let's now imagine that that movie that you are watching is getting smaller and smaller.
Maybe further and further away.
Quieter and quieter.
And suddenly the picture is gone.
And you find yourself all alone.
Maybe in that movie theater.
Or watching the laptop.
And it no longer pulls you in that direction.
You no longer need to visit this movie.
It is in your past.
And so you turn your back to this story.
You turn away.
And you walk out of the room.
And as you walk out of the room,
You see a door.
And you decide to step through.
And as you do,
You step into a beautiful space.
This space is perfect for you.
It has everything that you need.
That you desire.
The colors are beautiful.
Just as you would design it.
The scent is wonderful.
The people or objects around you are all of the ones that you want nearby.
You begin to feel even more relaxed.
Like coming home to a special place.
The feelings that are moving through you are one of happiness and joy.
Connection.
Feeling apart.
Feeling understood.
In this place,
Everything is just as it should be.
And you look around and you can see all around you.
The beautifulness of this space.
Perfect for you.
Maybe inside,
Maybe outside.
Maybe with people,
Maybe with not.
This is your special place.
You get to design it.
And how would you describe this special place?
What are the words that you would use?
And as you use these special words to describe this special place.
What are the emotions running through your body?
What are the thoughts that you have?
Now imagine you could take a picture of this.
A picture that you can hold on to.
One that you can place into your heart space.
And come back to visit at any time.
This is your special place.
Let's take a look one more time.
Let's look around.
Let's take it all in.
Let your entire body experience this special place.
What it looks like.
What it feels like.
All of your thoughts about it.
Take it all in.
And tuck it away into your heart.
And we'll bring our awareness back to the heart.
Breathing into that heart space.
Noticing how relaxed we are in this moment.
And we allow peace to flow through.
May you carry this feeling of peace with you through your day.
Coming back at any time.
Coming to your special place whenever needed.
Namaste.
