I invite you to get comfortable for this meditation.
Lay down.
You can stay seated if you would like to,
But as we are going to flow through a body scan,
It really helps for your body just to lay and completely relax with your arms by your side,
Palms facing up.
Let your legs lay long and your feet fall to the side.
Your head rest heavy.
Close your eyes and take a long deep breath in and as you exhale,
Feel your body sinking down into the ground.
Inhale and exhale.
Let go.
As you lay here,
See a light in front of you.
A soft,
Beautiful light and notice what colour this light is.
Maybe a pure white light or a warm golden glow like the sun.
Maybe you see a blue,
A serene blue like the sea,
Lavender,
Orange or green.
See this light clearly in your mind's eye,
Shimmering before you.
Let it radiate.
Let it fill you with its calm and beauty.
You take a breath in and you feel a wave of this light washing down your body all the way to your toes.
The light wraps your toes in warm,
Releasing any tightness,
Any stickiness.
In every breath,
The light slowly rises up your body,
Moving into your feet.
You sense it spreading through the arches,
The heels and your tops of your feet,
Filling them with softness.
You breathe the light up to your ankles.
It flows into your ankles like warm water,
Dissolving any remaining stiffness.
With each breath,
This beautiful glowing light becomes even brighter,
Soothing as it flows up your body.
You feel the light as it moves up to your legs like a gentle river of warmth and calm.
It soothes your knees and cradles each muscle in your thighs,
Releasing any lingering tightness.
The light reaches your hips,
Filling your hips with a comforting warmth,
And you breathe the glow up to your heart.
Feel your heart as it bathes in the glow of your beautiful light.
The light rises to your shoulders,
Releasing any weight they may carry,
And flows down both your arms,
Bringing relaxation as it flows through your upper arms,
Your elbows,
Forearms and wrists,
All the way down to your fingertips.
The light travels up to your neck and your throat,
Rousing away any tightness and leaving a soothing,
Calm sensation.
The shimmering light rises to your jaw and your chin as you take a breath in,
Easing your mouth,
Your cheeks and your nostrils.
The glow moves gently around your eyes,
Relaxing them completely,
And fills your forehead with warmth,
Dissolving every little knot of tension.
The soft but radiant light fills your entire body,
From the tips of your toes to the crown of your head.
Feel your body breathing in this beautiful glow,
Every inhale inviting warmth and ease,
And every exhale releasing tension,
Feeling your body glowing even brighter,
Leaving you feeling lighter and lighter.
Rest here,
Embraced by the light,
Feel your body and your mind completely bathed and calm.
Do stay here for as long as it feels good for you,
As long as you have time for today.
But when you feel ready,
You'll slowly start awakening the body and take a long deep breath in,
Breathing deeply into the belly.
In a slow breath out,
Inhale,
Breathe in the light's calm and beauty,
Soak it all in.
In the exhale,
Feel your whole body glowing,
From your head and all the way down to your toes.
