Welcome.
Take a moment to find a comfortable seat,
Letting yourself feel fully supported by the surface beneath you.
Close your eyes if it feels right,
And begin to settle into your breath.
Let each inhale bring you a sense of calm,
And each exhale allow you to let go of surface tension,
Softening your shoulders,
Relaxing your jaw,
And allowing your hands to rest easily on your lap.
Now turn your attention to the fire,
Whether you're sitting in front of a real one,
Or whether it's the one on the screen.
If you're imagining the fire,
Let a vivid picture form in your mind,
A fire that feels timeless and deeply familiar,
One that speaks to something deep within you.
I invite you now to gently set an intention for yourself at this time,
Perhaps to release what no longer serves you,
Or renew your inner strength,
Or simply to experience the comfort of letting go.
Let this intention settle quietly in your heart,
Creating a sense of purpose and connection as we begin.
As you sit with the fire,
Take a moment to honour it,
Acknowledging the primal connection we share with flames.
Fire has been a companion to humanity since the earliest times,
A source of warmth,
Protection,
And a key aid to survival.
Our ancestors gathered around the flames for safety,
For cooking,
For stories,
And for rituals of release and renewal.
Fire is ancient,
And an ever-present force of transformation that clears the way for growth,
Releasing what no longer is needed.
Today this fire is here to support you,
To offer you its strength and to help you shed old weights,
Making space within for healing and peace.
Start to move your awareness to the flickering dance of the flames.
Notice how they move in a rhythmic,
Almost hypnotic flow.
Feel the warmth reaching out,
Gently wrapping around you,
Inviting you to surrender your worries,
Fears and burdens to the light.
Allow yourself to be drawn in by the timeless dance of the fire,
Knowing you are in a safe and powerful space.
Visualise each flame as a companion,
A guide that is there to help you release.
Imagine the heat on your skin,
Or sense it in your mind's eye as the warmth begins to melt away the layers of tension and stress.
This fire is more than just warmth,
It's a symbol of your own inner strength and resilience.
As you sit with it,
Sense a flame within yourself,
A gentle but steady glow at the centre of your chest.
This inner flame represents your capacity for growth,
Renewal and strength.
Each breath you take feeds this flame,
Letting it grow a little brighter and warmer,
Reminding you of the power and the strength that resides within you.
I'm going to guide you now on a journey through different stages of release,
Each a layer of thought,
Emotion or belief that may be weighing on you.
For each one,
Allow yourself to fully feel and recognise the weight,
Before gently offering it to the flames for release.
In a moment,
I'm going to ask you to write each of these burdens down on a piece of paper in your mind's eye.
I'll then ask you to place that piece of paper with your burden written upon it into the flames,
And then we'll watch it burn and dissolve,
Releasing you from what no longer serves you.
If you are actually sat in front of a fire and you have a pen and paper handy,
You may enjoy doing this for real.
Let's start with feelings of self-doubt,
The inner voices that question your worth or capabilities,
Or your value.
Let these doubts come to the surface,
Recognising them fully without judgement.
Perhaps it's an old belief that says you're not enough,
Or the weight of comparing yourself with others.
In your mind's eye,
Or in reality,
Start to write them down on a piece of paper.
See them clearly,
Acknowledging the hold that they've had upon you until now.
When you've finished,
Bring the piece of paper to the fire,
And watch it slowly catch and begin to burn.
The flames take each word,
Each letter,
Transforming them into smoke.
Feel these doubts start to dissolve as the fire frees you from their grip.
As they disappear,
Imagine the space within you filling with a quiet confidence,
A trust in your own unique worth.
Now start to bring your mind to any fear of change,
Worries about stepping into the unknown,
Or doubts about embracing new experiences.
Change can feel like stepping out into an open,
Unknown space,
But it is as natural and essential as fire itself,
Which transforms everything in its path.
In your mind's eye,
Start to write down these fears,
Capturing each one as it appears.
Then when you're ready,
Offer this piece of paper to the fire.
Watch as the flames consume these fears,
Each one dissolving in the smoke and light.
With each release,
Feel the space inside you growing stronger,
Creating a new readiness to embrace life's unknowns.
As the flames consume your fears,
Imagine them transforming into courage,
Strength,
And openness to life's unfolding journey.
Now gently bring to your mind any lingering guilt or regret,
Moments from the past that still hold weight within you.
These might be decisions you wish you could change,
Or unspoken words that still echo.
Acknowledge these feelings without judgment,
Recognising them as a natural part of your journey.
Then when you're ready,
Start to write down each memory,
Each moment you wish to release.
Then when you've finished,
Bring the pieces of paper close to the flames,
And watch as the flames start to wrap around it,
Dissolving the weight of guilt or regret into nothingness.
Feel a sense of peace as the fire transforms these memories into compassion and understanding.
Sense the lightness as this weight lifts and allows forgiveness to settle into your heart.
Finally,
Turn your attention to any critical self-talk,
Any harsh judgments or negative voices within you.
Often these words linger,
Creating self-doubt and tension.
So take a moment to notice them fully,
Seeing each as a part of yourself you're ready to release.
Then when you're ready,
Write each phrase,
Each judgment,
Allowing them to appear clearly on the page.
Then when you're ready,
Offer the piece of paper to the flames.
Watch as the fire consumes each word,
Each criticism,
Transforming it into warmth and compassion.
Feel the warmth of self-kindness filling the space where these words once were,
Allowing you to see yourself with love and acceptance.
I invite you now to sit in the steady unwavering glow of the fire.
Fire has always been a symbol of transformation,
Releasing what's old to make way for the new.
As you sit with these flames,
Know that it has consumed and transformed each weight you offered,
Turning it into warmth,
Strength and light.
Reflect for a moment on how it feels to let go,
To be free from these burdens.
Imagine yourself breathing in the light and warmth of these flames,
Filling yourself with resilience,
Peace and a deep inner strength.
The fire has supported you in this process,
In the same way it supported our ancestors and its presence is always available to you,
A timeless symbol of release,
Renewal and growth.
I shall leave you now for a little while to fire gaze as you revel in the warmth and these feelings of change.
You'll hear my voice again shortly,
Until then enjoy.
I invite you now to take a final deep breath in,
Drinking in any final sense of calm,
Clarity and peace that you can draw from the fire.
And as you exhale,
Allow yourself to feel grounded and empowered.
I invite you to slowly draw your awareness back to the present.
Then when you're ready,
Carry this sense of warmth,
Lightness and transformation into the rest of your day.
Namaste.
