Welcome.
Find a comfortable position and allow your body to settle.
You don't need to empty your mind.
You don't need to make anything disappear.
For the next few minutes,
We are simply going to practice noticing when the mind wanders and gently returning to the present moment.
Take a slow,
Comfortable breath in.
And let it go.
Bring your attention to the feeling of your body right now.
Notice where your body is supported.
The weight of your body.
Against the chair.
The floor or the surface beneath you.
Now bring your attention to your breathing.
You don't need to change your breath.
Just notice it.
The movement of the inhale.
The movement of the exhale.
And now,
Simply notice what your mind is doing.
Perhaps there are thoughts about something that happened today.
Perhaps you are already thinking about tomorrow.
Maybe there is something you're trying to solve.
Understand?
Remember.
Or control.
Whatever is there,
Let it be there.
When you notice a thought,
Silently say to yourself,
Thinking.
And then gently return to your breath.
Thought.
And return.
Planning and return.
Worrying,
And return.
You don't have to follow the thought.
You don't have to finish the story.
You can notice it and then come back.
Take another slow breath in.
And as you breathe out,
Feel the space around the thought.
Your mind can be busy.
While you remain here.
Or the next few breaths.
Practice this on your own.
Notice,
Name.
Return.
And again.
Notice.
Name.
Return.
Every time you notice that you've wandered away,
You've actually succeeded.
That moment of noticing is the practice.
Now slowly become aware of your body again.
Notice your breath.
Notice the space around you.
And before you move on with your day.
Take a moment to notice how you feel now.
Is there a little more space?
A little more softness.
Or perhaps you simply feel more aware of what is happening inside you.
Whatever you notice.
Is enough.
And if you'd like,
Come back to this practice tomorrow.
Each time you notice your mind wandering and gently return.
You are strengthening your ability to come back to the present.
You don't have to master it.
You simply have to practice returning.
Now take one final comfortable breath.
And when you are ready,
Continue with your day.
