In this video,
I'd like to share a breathing technique with you that's also great as an abdominal workout.
So this breathing technique is called the twisting technique and it's going to help you to prime the body,
Just connect with the body deeper.
If you do yoga,
Then you've experienced in a yoga pose,
Whenever you are deep in your stretch and you look over your fingers,
You realize that you're in a space you look over your fingers or in between your legs and your wrist,
You realize you're in a space that your body is just not familiar with.
And it's really interesting.
And it creates this lateral consciousness,
This lateral thinking,
We take ourselves out of our regular comfort zone and bring ourselves into a new space,
That it's,
It's really good for us.
It's really great for opening the mind.
It's kind of like traveling,
Learning a new language.
And so that's what I find that this breathing technique,
It kind of brings me into that same space.
And what we're going to do.
Is gonna hold our arms out like this.
Like this.
It's kind of like a prayer.
And whenever we twist.
.
.
We're going to be inhaling gently through the mouth.
Okay,
So on our twist.
And then when we get to our climax and twist We breathe out through the nose.
Forcefully and we pull the abs in okay so you're starting to see this repeating pattern here so when we twist Okay,
This is the technique.
I'm starting to sweat just doing it now.
This is a great way to warm up before a workout,
Before a run,
Before.
Life okay,
And so whenever we do this we're going to be Gently letting the air flow into the mouth,
Into the lungs,
Through the mouth,
In the middle of our twist.
And then when we get here,
The climax of the twist.
We want to.
Push all the air out forcefully through the nose and suck in the abs.
Flex the abs,
Really engage the core.
In slow motion.
That's what it will look like.
You can choose to follow your hands if you like.
Or you could.
.
.
Keep your head faced in one direction.
Set your drishti or set your gaze into a certain vocal point when you do this.
I find that I like to mix it up,
But kind of keeping your chin down and looking right at your thumb or you can have your hands like this right at the tip of your fingers.
Is a great way to do it as well.
And so this one may take a little bit of practice,
But the important part is to begin to feel the breath naturally happening here.
So when you are here.
That natural inhale we really want to connect with that and we want to just as much so connect with the exhale.
Powerful exhale and the ab contraction whenever we get to the end of the twist.
And so all of this is going to help us to master our breath just during our day throughout our day,
Whenever we're breathing,
We're going to be more conscious of how we breathe.
Okay so again this exercise the twisting breath is great for pre-workout pre-yoga pre-life doing in the day to wake up try this technique for a little while after this video,
And see if it resonates with you.
Try it for about 10 minutes,
And if it does resonate with you,
Great.
Utilize it and bring it into your daily practice.
Okay,
Well,
That does it for this technique.
I hope you enjoyed,
And my name's Ben Holt.
I'll see you in the next video.
Namaste.
