Welcome to the regulation ritual.
A 20 minute somatic reset.
Wherever you are right now.
However wound up,
Scattered or far from yourself you feel.
You're in the right place.
This is a reset,
Not an escape from your life,
But a way back into your body where calm has been waiting for you the whole time.
Find a position where you can be still.
City.
Lying down.
It doesn't matter.
As long as you can let go of holding yourself up for the next 20 minutes.
Let your eyes close or soften your gaze downward if you'd rather keep them open.
And take a slow breath in through your nose.
And let it go through your mouth.
Longer than it came in.
Again breathe in.
In and out.
Even slower this time.
Worry Mom.
In through the nose.
And afold.
Complete exhale.
Now you're breathing out the entire day.
Notice that your exhale is naturally becoming longer than your inhale.
That's not an accident.
That's your body's own signal for safety.
Every long exhale.
Tells your nervous system.
We're not in danger anymore.
Let your shoulders drop half an inch.
Let your jaw unclench.
Let your hands go heavy.
Were over there resting.
You don't need to relax harder.
You just need to stop holding on so tightly.
Imagine now.
A soft light at the very top of your head.
WOMB unhurried.
Patient.
With your next breath.
That light begins to move.
Down through your forehead.
Smoothing the crease between your brows.
Down through your eyes.
Your cheeks Your jaw.
Down through your neck.
A place that carries so much for you.
So much of the time.
Let it soften.
Down through your shoulders and your chest.
Into your arms,
Your hands,
Your fingertips.
And now imagine 10 steps in front of you.
Leading down into a quiet room within yourself.
A room that has always been there.
Even when you forgot it existed.
With each number you go a little deeper.
Release it.
Night.
Breathe slower now.
Heavier.
Softer.
7.
Six.
Drifting.
Goodbye.
Halfway there.
For.
Three.
Almost.
Too.
Nearly home.
And one.
Arriving.
You're here now,
In this quiet inner room.
Notice how it feels.
The temperature.
The light.
The ground beneath you.
Somewhere in this space.
There is a switch.
It might look like an old brass dial.
A smooth stone with a groove worn into it.
A small lever set into a wall.
Whatever your mind offers you is exactly right.
This switch is yours.
It has always been yours.
It's the physical form of your body's own ability.
To move from on.
To us.
From bracing.
To resting.
From survival.
To safety.
Right now,
Notice which way it's turned.
Maybe it's being stopped toward alert for longer than you realize.
Running Talk.
Staying gritty.
Never quite landing.
That's not a flaw.
That's a body that's been doing its job.
Protecting you the only way you know how.
Now reach toward the switch.
As you touch it,
Take a breath in And on your exhale,
Turn it.
Slowly.
Deliberately.
Toward rest.
Feel what happens in your actual body as you do this.
May be warmth spreading through your chest.
Maybe a loosening behind your sternum.
Maybe your stomach unclenching.
For what feels like the first time in days.
There's no wrong response here.
Your body knows exactly how to come down.
It's been waiting for permission not instruction.
In with every breath now.
That switch settles further into rest.
Inhale.
You draw in ease.
Exhale.
Your system downshifts one notch at a time.
Notice your heartbeat.
Whether you can feel it clearly or just sense it in the background.
Notice it beginning to slow.
To study.
Find a rhythm that says we are safe.
As your body settles deeper.
Let these truths land.
Not as something to force.
But as something you're simply remembering.
My body knows how to come home.
I don't have to earn rest.
It's already mine.
The switch.
Is always within reach.
I can find it anytime I need to.
Feel those words settle somewhere low in your body Your belly,
Your chest.
The base of your spine.
Not just her.
But how?
And from now on notice this.
Anytime you take one long slow exhale.
The kind that empties you out completely.
That switch responds.
Even outside this meditation.
Even in the middle of a hard day.
One long exhale.
And some part of you remembers this room.
This week.
This choice.
That's the whole ritual.
It's this simple.
It was always this simple.
Take a few more moments here.
Simply resting in this settled place.
No task.
No destination.
Just the felt sense of nervous system.
That has for now.
Put down what it was carrying.
And in a moment you'll return to the room around you.
But you'll bring this switch and this reset with you begin to deepen your breath just slightly.
Feel your body reconnect with the surface beneath you wiggle your fingers.
Wiggle your toes.
Notice the sounds in the room.
The air on your skin.
In a moment I'll count from 1 to 5.
And with each number you'll return a little more calmer than when you began.
And steady in a new way.
One.
Deepening.
To energy returning to your limbs.
Three,
Mind clear.
Let your body settle.
Foregrounded presence.
At ease.
Five,
Eyes open,
Fully here,
Regulated and whole.
This is Rachel and it's been a joy to guide you back to yourself.
Remember,
Regulation isn't something you have to chase or force.
It's a switch you already carry.
And now you know exactly where to find it.
Carry this calm with you as you move through the rest of your day.
