Hello my beautiful soul.
Welcome to my meditation.
My name is Anumia Obago.
And today we celebrate Diwali the Festival of Light.
By celebrating the light that lives within us.
The quiet strength of hope.
And the beautiful possibility of finding our way through every season of life.
Allow yourself to settle into a comfortable position.
Gently close your eyes whenever you feel ready.
And begin by taking a slow,
Deep breath.
Allow the air to travel into your lungs.
Allow your shoulders to soften and as you breathe out,
Give yourself permission to arrive fully in this moment.
Take another deep breath in.
Feel the gentle moment of your chest and abdomen.
And allow your attention to settle into the simple experience of being here.
Feel your body supported beneath you.
And see how your mind gradually becomes more attentive to the present moment.
As you settle into the space.
Bring your awareness to the beautiful festival of Diwali.
A celebration that has carried the symbolism of light over darkness,
Goodness over evil,
And righteousness over wrongdoing through generations of stories,
Traditions,
Prayers and rituals.
Think about the little dears.
Those who are not aware of what a diya is,
It's a small clay lamp lit with a cotton wig along with oil or ghee.
Think of these diyas that illuminate homes,
Doorways,
Temples and courtyards during this time of the year.
Each flame carrying a reminder of the goodness we celebrate.
There is something deeply moving about a small flame illuminating an entire room.
Because its beauty reminds us that light has a way of making itself known,
Bringing warmth to the spaces it touches and helping us recognize what was waiting to be seen.
And today,
I invite you to experience this light as something that lives within you.
A gentle,
Enduring presence that accompanies you through your experiences,
Your decisions,
Your uncertainties,
And the dreams you continue to carry in your heart.
Take a moment to reflect upon the journey that has brought you here.
Acknowledge the experience that has strengthened you.
The moments that have surprised you.
The relationships that have shaped you.
And the quiet victories that perhaps only you know how much they meant.
Life unfolds in many different ways and each of us encounters seasons that ask us to gather our courage,
Practice patience and discover a deeper relationship with ourselves,
Particularly when the things we hope for are still finding their way into our lives.
Perhaps there have been moments when you have wondered when things will become easier.
When a long-awaited opportunity will arrive.
When your efforts will begin to bear fruit.
Or when you will finally feel the sense of peace and belonging you have been longing for.
Allow yourself to meet these experiences with tenderness,
Understanding that hope can exist alongside uncertainty.
That faith can grow through questions and that courage often reveals itself through the simple decision to continue participating in your life with an open heart.
Now,
I would like you to imagine a beautiful little deer resting in the center of your chest.
Its golden flame glowing gently within the space of your heart.
Illuminating you from the inside with a warmth that feels comforting and entirely authentic to you.
Observe the delicate movement of the flame.
The golden light surrounding it.
And the beauty of its presence.
Allowing this little deer to become a symbol of hope you carry within yourself.
This light could represent a dream you have cherished for years or a part of yourself you are learning to trust.
Or a relationship you hope to experience.
Or a future you are gradually building.
Or simply the belief that your life continues to hold beautiful possibilities.
Whatever comes to mind,
Allow it to find a place beside this little flame.
Giving yourself a moment to recognize how much meaning,
Tenderness and possibility your heart is capable of holding.
And as you continue breathing gently,
Imagine bringing your hands around this diya creating a soft shelter for its light.
Much like you would protect something precious that deserves your care and attention.
Now visualize a gentle breeze passing through your inner sanctuary,
Representing the changing circumstances of life.
Opinions of others,
Unexpected disappointments,
And the moments when your confidence is tested by experiences you never anticipated.
Feel yourself adjusting your hands around the flame.
Learning how to shelter it with patience and wisdom.
Discovering that protecting your hope can mean honoring your boundaries,
Choosing the company of people who nurture your spirit allowing yourself to rest.
And taking the next meaningful step even when the entire journey remains unseen.
Your inner light does not jet through the way you speak to yourself.
The values you choose to live by.
The care you offer your body and the willingness to keep your heart connected to the things that make your life meaningful.
And maybe this is one of the most beautiful lessons we can take from Diwali.
The light we celebrate around us can also become a reminder of the goodness we are capable of practicing within ourselves.
Every time you choose honesty,
When deception appears easier.
Every time you uphold your dignity through a difficult interaction.
Every time you respond with wisdom instead of acting from an old wound,
You participate in the quiet victory of goodness.
Every time you choose to begin again after disappointment.
Or celebrate someone else's happiness with a generous heart.
Or offer kindness while remaining faithful to your own boundaries,
You allow your values to become a living expression of the light you carry.
These moments may seem ordinary,
Yet they are the very places where character takes shape,
Where inner strength becomes visible through action,
And where the world begins to change through the choices made by individual human beings.
Take a breath and allow yourself to appreciate the person you are becoming through these choices.
Recognizing that your greatest victories often emerge through the way you learn to meet life,
The way you care for yourself and others,
And the way you remain connected to what you know is right.
Now visualize looking beyond your own little dea.
Look around and notice another flame glowing in the distance.
Followed by another.
And another.
Until the darkness around you begins to transform into a beautiful landscape filled with thousands of golden lights.
Each flame represents a person somewhere in the world who is choosing goodness.
Someone.
Who is standing up for truth.
Someone who is protecting another human being.
Someone who is learning to love more wisely.
And someone who is gathering the courage to begin again.
Look at all of these lights illuminating doorways,
Windows,
Streets.
Courtyards and distant homes,
Creating a vast tapestry of warmth that connects people through their shared capacity for kindness,
Courage,
Hope and love.
Allow yourself to feel what it means to be a part of this larger human story.
Understanding that your light belongs to something greater than your individual circumstances and that the goodness you practice can become a source of warmth in the lives you touch.
As you rest with this image of thousands of glowing diyas,
Allow your attention to return to the little flame within your heart.
Carrying with you the warmth of everything it represents.
Your Hope.
Your courage,
Your integrity,
And your willingness to remain open to the goodness that life can hold.
Now take a slow,
Deep breath in.
Allowing these feelings to settle gently within you and consider what you would like your inner light to represent as you move into this new chapter of your life.
Whatever intention arises,
Allow it to become a quiet promise to yourself,
Something you can return to through your everyday choices,
Your relationships,
And the way you continue to shape your life.
As we bring this meditation to a close,
I invite you to carry the spirit of Diwali with you beyond the celebrations,
Remembering that every diya you light can become a beautiful reminder of the light you are choosing to nurture within yourself.
May hope continue to find a home in your heart.
May faith accompany you through seasons of uncertainty.
And may courage guide you towards the choices that honor your deepest values.
Take one final deep breath in.
Feeling the presence of your body and the space around you carrying this warmth of the moment into the rest of your day.
Thank you so much for meditating with me.
Happy Diwali.
Have a great day.
Namaste.
