Welcome to Today I Will Rest.
I'd like to invite you to do something that sounds very simple.
And yet can sometimes feel surprisingly difficult.
And that is to rest.
That's not because you've finished everything or ticked everything off your list,
But simply because you are human and you need moments of rest.
So,
For these next few minutes,
Allow yourself to just pause.
Nowhere to get to.
No need to make this moment productive.
It is just rest.
So find your comfy space warm and cozy and gently close your eyes.
Take a slow breath in through your nose.
Just let it leave your body easily.
Breathing in.
And as you breathe out,
Just let your shoulders drop.
Soften your jaw.
Let your hands rest.
The muscles around your eyes are beginning to relax.
And just let yourself be supported.
A gentle breath in.
And as you breathe out,
Just imagine putting down everything that you have been carrying today.
The things you need to remember.
The conversations going around in your mind,
The plans,
The responsibilities,
Those little things still waiting to be done.
They can wait here quietly while you rest just for this little while.
Your mind might still be busy.
But you don't need to make your thoughts disappear.
Just let them come.
And then let them go.
Just drifting on the clouds that are slowly traveling across the wide open sky.
And you don't need to follow them.
So just simply return to your breath.
In and out.
Rest is not only something we do when we are so tired,
But rest is part of the rhythm of life.
Because the Earth rests.
The seasons rest.
And even between one breath and the next.
There is a tiny moment of stillness.
And that is a pause.
Nothing happening,
Nothing required.
Just space.
So,
Just begin to notice that little space in your own breathing.
Breathe in.
.
.
And slowly breathe out and just rest there for a moment before your next breath arrives naturally.
Breathe in.
.
.
Breathe out.
And pause.
No need to hold the breath,
Simply notice that quiet moment.
That little space between doing and doing again.
Wonderful.
Now just imagine the late afternoon sun warming a quiet meadow.
The light is soft.
The grasses are moving gently in the breeze.
Nothing is rushing,
Nothing is trying to become anything else.
The trees simply stand,
The clouds simply drift by,
And the earth is holding you.
And just see yourself resting there for a few moments.
You feel warm,
Safe,
Supported.
You can simply be.
Take a slow breath in and silently affirm to yourself.
I give myself permission to rest and breathe out.
Breathe in.
I let myself soften.
Release.
Breathing in,
There is nothing I need to prove.
And breathe out.
For this moment.
I simply rest.
And just breathe those words deep into your heart.
Notice what happens when you stop asking something of yourself.
More space is created.
You feel more soft.
Your body is letting go in many ways.
Your nervous system is beginning to relax.
Take a deep breath in.
And slowly release.
Letting go.
Of any further stress or tension.
Rest doesn't have to feel a certain way.
Sometimes rest is just simply deciding.
I am going to stop pushing for a moment.
So ask yourself gently,
What would feel restful for me today?
It might be an early night.
Just to take 10 quiet minutes for yourself.
Slow walk.
Sitting somewhere beautiful in nature.
Listening to your favorite music.
Or just doing absolutely nothing.
You can just simply allow yourself to move through the rest of your day a little more slowly.
So take a nourishing breath in.
And slowly breathe out.
Begin to feel the space around you.
Become aware of your body and the support beneath you.
Roll your shoulders if that feels good.
And give yourself a gentle stretch.
When you're ready,
Slowly open your eyes and carry this simple intention with you.
Today I will rest.
Because rest is part of living.
Part of healing,
Part of being human.
So,
Thank you so much for sharing these quiet moments with me.
And whatever the rest of your beautiful day holds,
May you remember that sometimes the kindest thing you can do is simply to pause,
To breathe,
And to rest.
Namaste,
My friend.
