You don't have to try to sleep,
Because sleep will come to you.
Now just let your eyes gently close,
Just enough to rest.
Notice the weight of your body being held by the bed beneath you,
Supported,
Cradled,
Safe.
Let your jaw loosen,
The tongue is resting gently in your mouth and your shoulders are melting down and away from your ears.
There is no effort here,
Only permission.
If thoughts pass through,
You don't need to follow them,
They can drift by,
Like clouds moving across a night sky.
Each moment your body is settling more deeply,
More comfortably into rest.
Now we'll move into a gentle breathing pattern that doesn't require any counting or control.
It's a breath that will help to soothe your nervous system by following a natural wave.
So just visualize your breath moving like a gentle tide.
As you inhale,
The breath is rising slowly like water coming up a quiet shore and as you exhale,
Your breath recedes longer,

Pulling tension back with it.
A soft pause at the top and an even softer pause at the bottom.
So nothing is forced,

Just the feeling of being gently breathed.

The breath is flowing down out of your chest,

Your legs and it's dissolving into the earth below you.
You may notice your breathing is becoming quieter,

Your body knows exactly how to guide you toward sleep.
So once more just breathe in,

Just resume your natural breathing pattern now and just see yourself standing at the top of a wide,

Each step will receive you and as I count,
