Hello again and welcome.
Today,
I'd like to invite you into a simple question.
Not to answer,
But to quietly experience.
What are you carrying that no longer serves you?
Perhaps it is an expectation,
A fear,
An old disappointment.
A belief about who you should be.
A responsibility that was never truly questioned.
Or a story repeated so often that it came to feel like who you are.
There is no need to judge what is here.
There's no need to change anything.
Simply notice.
Many teachings encourage us to ask.
What should I let go of?
It is a sincere question,
But perhaps there is another,
A quieter question.
What no longer serves.
Notice how different they feel.
The first can imply that something must be done,
That effort is required.
That one must somehow learn to release.
But the second simply invites observation.
A willingness to look,
To see without judgement.
Without resistance.
Without trying to change what is here.
The mind may begin by trying to understand.
Why am I carrying this?
Where did it come from?
How can I release it?
And there is nothing wrong with these questions.
Understanding can prepare the ground.
But eventually becomes a quiet recognition.
Understanding belongs to the mind.
Recognition belongs to awareness.
The mind seeks to know.
Awareness simply recognises.
One begins to notice that what is being carried is really life itself.
It is an identity,
An expectation,
A fear,
A memory,
A hope,
A regret,
A story,
All belonging to the separate self.
The separate self is always carrying,
Always projecting,
Always becoming,
Always remembering,
Always anticipating.
Everything the separate self calls mine is finite.
Every identity changes.
Every belief can be replaced.
Every expectation rises and falls.
Every fear appears and disappears.
Every story has a beginning and an ending.
Awareness is different.
It has no identity to defend,
No image to maintain,
No belief to protect.
No future to secure.
No past to carry.
It is timeless.
It is impersonal.
Awareness does not identify with anything.
It does not become the thought,
The emotion,
The memory,
The fear,
The story.
It is simply spaciously aware of their arising,
Their movement and their passing.
Without needing to hold any of them.
The separate cell is identified with experience.
Awareness is simply a way of experience.
Perhaps freedom has never been found through the effort of letting go.
Perhaps freedom is revealed through clear seeing.
Through the direct recognition that awareness is never needed to carry what thought believed it must.
Nothing needs to be forced away,
Nothing needs to disappear.
When there is clear seeing,
The unnecessary quietly comes to rest.
Not because it has been released.
But because it is no longer mistaken for who we are.
Perhaps this is not a journey of letting go.
Perhaps it is simply a journey of recognition.
A recognition that what we truly are has never been burdened,
Has never been diminished.
Has never been incomplete.
And in that recognition,
There is nothing left to carry.
Only timeless,
Aware presence.
Already here.
Quietly and completely free as itself.
If this contemplation has resonated with you.
You're warmly welcomed and invited to explore the rest of this growing collection.
Each one is another doorway to the same self-recognition.
