Our Shadow self is the side of us that we've tucked into corners of forgetfulness because we haven't quite figured out how to love or accept it. Reclaiming this side of ourselves is the step on the path to reclaiming all that we are. This exercise leads you to meet every part of yourself, to find messages and love that live therein.

Welcome.

Thank you for joining and creating space in your day to meditate.

In today's session,

We're going to work on visualizing reclaiming our shadow,

That part of us that we've hidden from ourselves and others in fear,

Embarrassment,

Denial,

And rejection.

We know our shadow well.

It's the friend we'd rather not introduce,

The one who reminds us of our past and the decisions we regret we made.

It's the part of us that always seems to be cloaked in black,

A stark contrast to the light that we'd rather stay in.

Our shadow is every part of us that we don't quite know how to love or accept.

So we tuck it into corners of forgetfulness and let it become a long gone memory.

We're beings of light with so much compassion to give and receive,

But we're also madly human,

Flawed,

Troubled,

Real,

Trying.

It's because of this humanness that we need to embrace all that we are and let the light that connects us to the stars also connect us to our shadow.

It is one and the same.

Allow yourself to get comfortable in your seat,

Propping yourself up if you need to.

Begin to gently close your eyes and take a few deep,

Long breaths in and out.

Place your right palm on your knee or in your lap,

Facing down.

Let your left palm gently rest on your knee or in your lap,

Facing up.

Take a deep breath in and a deep breath out.

Allow your physical body to soften around the edges that feel tense or tight.

Let the shoulder blades fall down your back like sandbags and allow your jaw and brow to ease.

Continue this breath until your body has found that neutral seat of comfort and surrender.

Begin to see yourself sitting in a circle by gentle fire.

The stars are out and they've multiplied tenfold since you've been out.

Their shine casts a beautiful light where none other is needed.

You feel safe,

Secure,

And comfortable in your seat.

Look around and take it all in.

The stars,

The fire,

What you're wearing,

How you're sitting,

Smells and sounds of this sacred circle.

Imagine now that others have joined you in this circle.

They've quietly come in and taken their seat,

Completing the circle.

Imagine that these gentle souls are versions of you,

Each one a part of your personality.

What do they look like?

How do they approach?

Are they soft or loud?

Shy or active?

Angry or content?

Sad,

Fearful,

Or joyful and proud?

Take each of them in and allow yourself to study them honestly as they are.

Take them as they are and allow each of them to sit by your side and in front of you.

Welcome them all.

In your seat with your right palm facing down and your left palm facing up,

Imagine that your person to your right places their hand on top of yours.

Likewise,

Your person to your left places their hand into yours.

Take a deep breath in and a deep breath out.

What does that feel like?

To hold hands with everyone who makes you who you are.

Imagine now in the soft glimmer of the stars and the fire,

In the company of everyone who creates you,

That each person has a message for you.

With hands embraced,

Allow each person to speak their truth and share their message with you.

No matter what we've done in life,

Who we've hurt or who has hurt us,

Our shadow only wants to be heard.

With your messages in heart and mind,

Stand up in your circle as everyone else follows.

Set your feet firmly in the ground of your most divine foundation and allow each person to come up to you and give you the most compassionately warm embrace.

See them as they approach you.

Meet their gaze and their soft smile and as you hug,

Pull them in close.

Imagine your heart is reaching out to theirs and they melt into it until they softly disappear into your heart center.

Do this with every person.

God Bless.

We are only whole when we embrace all of who we are.

Each person we hugged is a moment in time where we welcome them back into our heart space where they've always belonged.

In the light of the stars and our own being,

We held hands with our deepest selves both to give and receive.

The left and the right,

The palms together complete you.

In that spirit,

Bring your palms now to touch at your heart.

Visualizing that energy of your entire being unified in one small space of countless possibilities.

Tuck your chin to that space and thank it for bringing you all closer together.

May you walk with ease,

Peace,

And company.

Namaste.

Such a beautiful visualization opportunity. I would have liked just a little more time to connect with all the facets of myself; each had much to share. I will be back for more. Thank you!

I’m actively working at embracing my shadow side. This was lovely. I saw the parts of myself that I haven’t historically liked, but today I somehow loved them. I loved their wild clothes, their slovenliness, their anger, their weepiness... they each serve a purpose and teach us something... to let our hair down, to rest, to stand up for our truth, to feel our pain. Thank you for this. 🙏🏼
