Hey there,
Today's short practice is about unlearning and undoing.
You might think that your mind and thoughts are stuck in their ways and incapable of change.
But you're allowed to question what you've been carrying.
You're allowed to disagree with things you've been told about yourself.
Habits can be unlearned.
And inner monologues can be rewritten.
We all have a story of who we are.
A tendency to think of ourselves in a certain way.
We might even think,
This is just who I am.
But the moment we realize that these patterns and conditioning can be challenged and transformed.
There's a huge sense of freedom in that.
So if you're not already there,
Just take a moment now to get into a comfy spot.
Take a deep breath.
In through the nose,
And now through the mouth.
Letting every bit of air out.
One more time,
Deep breath in through the nose.
And out through the mouth with a long sigh,
Emptying it all out.
As your breath returns to a normal cadence,
Become more aware of your physical senses.
Like the cool inhale in And the warm exhale out.
Rising and falling of the chest and belly as you breathe.
Become aware of any sensations of heaviness or lightness in your muscles.
Noticing any stillness or movement in the mind or body.
Now gently bring to mind something you've believed about yourself for a long time.
Maybe it's something you were told,
Something you learned through experience.
Or simply a story you've repeated so many times that it started to feel real.
You don't have to question whether it's true or false,
But simply ask yourself,
Do I still want to carry this?
Take a breath in and make a little room for any possibility.
And as you breathe out,
Loosen your grip on this old story.
You don't have to replace it today.
You don't even have to know what comes next.
You're simply giving yourself permission to question what no longer fits.
When you're ready,
Bring the awareness back to the breath.
Notice any sounds around you near or far.
Gently move your wrists and ankles.
Roll your neck and shoulders.
Awakening and renewing your whole self.
Take one last deep breath in,
Filling up with the possibility of change.
And exhale out slowly,
Letting something old and outdated go with it.
And until next time,
Have a good one.
