Hey there,
Today's practice is about conjuring up a little magic.
Not so much casting spells.
But noticing the magic that's already hiding in everyday life.
Let's settle into a comfy seat.
And give ourselves a few moments to arrive here.
Take a big,
Full breath in.
And let it go with a long,
Easy exhale.
One more time,
Breathing in deeply.
And slowly breathing out.
Now let your breath return to its natural pace.
Simply notice the air moving in and out.
Allowing yourself to settle into the moment.
What if a little magic isn't something we have to find?
Maybe it's what happens when we give an ordinary moment our extraordinary attention.
The way sunlight changes as the day goes on.
The sound of rain against a window.
The delicate pattern on a butterfly's wing.
The world is full of things we can explain.
And yet somehow,
That doesn't make them any less wonderful.
Now I'd like you to think of a small moment that made you feel a little sense of wonder.
Nothing grand or life-changing.
Maybe it's the first bite of a warm cookie.
A squirrel doing something absolutely ridiculous.
Or a familiar song coming on at just the right moment.
Whatever comes to mind.
Let yourself return to that moment for a little while.
Remember what you saw?
What you heard.
And how it felt to be there.
See if you can experience it again with fresh eyes.
Noticing the little details you might otherwise have overlooked.
Let yourself enjoy it.
There's nothing you need to learn from the moment.
You can simply be delighted by it.
And if today has been an especially ordinary day.
Or even a difficult one.
There's no need to pretend otherwise.
Just leave a little room for the possibility that somewhere in the middle of it all,
There might be one small thing worth noticing.
Just because little moments of wonder can exist alongside everything else.
When you're ready,
Bring your attention back to your breath.
Notice the gentle rise and fall of your chest.
And feel yourself seated here in this moment.
And as you go about the rest of your day,
Perhaps keep your eyes open to the possibility of a little everyday magic.
You never know what might catch your attention.
And until next time,
Have a good one.
