Hey there!
This little practice is for when you need a gentle nudge to start something.
We've all been there where we can easily talk ourselves out of doing something because of fear or not feeling like it's the right time or we're not good enough to even try.
Let today and this practice be a reminder that you just need to begin before the confidence shows up,
Before things feel clear,
When all you really have is the willingness to start.
Find a comfortable seat and let your body come to this moment.
Let everything settle.
Let your shoulders soften and drop.
Let your jaw and fists unclench and relax.
Let your breath and mind slow down.
Take a gentle breath in through your nose and a long easy breath out through the mouth.
If you're holding any tension around needing to do this just right,
See if you can let that go for now.
You're not here to perform.
You're just here to be.
You're just here to begin.
Bring to mind something you're starting.
A project,
A habit or maybe a new chapter in your life.
You don't need to picture the finished version,
Just the first small step.
Notice what comes up as you think about it.
Maybe excitement.
Maybe doubt.
Maybe fear of being seen or judged.
Whatever is here,
Let it be.
Starting often feels messy and that's okay.
We've all got to start somewhere.
Take another slow breath in and as you exhale,
Remind yourself,
I don't have to be good at this yet.
Let that message land in your internal mailbox.
With each breath,
Imagine giving yourself permission to be a beginner,
To learn as you go,
To stumble,
To show up imperfectly,
I am allowed to start where I am.
Again,
Breathe it in and let it settle into your body,
Into your soul.
Now imagine yourself taking one small step forward,
Not the whole journey,
Just the next step.
Feel the courage in that movement.
Beginning doesn't require confidence.
Confidence often comes after you begin.
Take one deeper breath in and a slow breath out.
As we come to a close,
Remind yourself,
You don't need approval to begin,
You don't need to prove anything to anyone.
You don't even need to know how it all turns out.
You just need to start.
When you're ready,
Gently bring your awareness back to the room around you,
Back to your body.
Carry with you the quiet courage of this moment,
The courage to begin exactly as you are.
Trust that simply starting is enough.
Good luck and until next time,
Have a good one.
