This meditation was inspired by the quote from Rupi Kaur.
Let it go,
Let it leave,
Let it happen.
Nothing in this world was promised or belonged to you anyway.
The day has done what it came to do and you don't need to hold it anymore.
You don't need to explain yourself to the evening,
It understands.
Let's begin gently with a simple whisper of truth.
Let it go,
Let it leave,
Let it happen.
Nothing in this world was promised or belonged to you anyway.
Let that quote not just settle in your mind but sink deep into your spine.
Breathe in slowly and breathe out just a little longer than that.
Let the breath do the letting go for you.
Begin at the crown of your head,
Soften the space between your eyebrows,
The place where all your shoulds live.
Loosen your jaw,
Because you don't have to hold the words anymore.
Even your thoughts about today aren't yours to keep,
They happen,
That's it.
Now give your forehead permission to forget just a little.
Drop into your neck and your shoulders,
Who often act as hangers carrying the weight of the world,
But let them slope now and let them sigh.
Lower your arms and loosen your grip.
You did enough.
You are not made of deadlines,
You are made of dusk and breath and you're returning home.
Let it leave.
Now draw attention to your chest,
Not just the rise and the fall,
But the ache you might still be carrying.
And if your heart is clenched,
Don't pry it open,
Just let it know that it doesn't have to hold on.
Let it go.
Let it leave.
Maybe the breath can sweep it clean,
Just for now.
Soften the belly and let it expand,
Warm and full of yes.
This is not the hour for holding on to things,
Or holding them in.
Feel your back,
That quiet support system.
Let it rest into what's beneath you.
Feel gravity doing the work,
Because you don't have to.
So let the hips unravel and let the thighs hum with release.
Ankles,
Tiny hinges of resilience.
Let them swing open into stillness.
And feel your feet,
The parts of you that stood,
Shifted,
Waited.
Even the silence can be a kind of applause for having made it through the day.
Now gather your body as a whole,
The living archive of a day you no longer have to carry.
What's done is not undone,
But let it leave,
Let it go,
And now let it have happened.
Because you're not here to relive it,
You're here to release it.
You are not off the clock,
You are on the cusp of rest,
Of return,
Of remembering who you are without the to-do list.
So let your body be the only thing you log into,
Allowing your breath to be your new inbox.
Let peace be your only task,
And let go.
But go like it's your second nature,
Because by now,
My friend,
May your mind,
Your body,
And your spirit be abundant with peace today and every day.
