Let's begin by finding a comfortable place to relax and unwind.

If you need to sit,

Find a comfortable seat to sit on,

And making sure you're comfortable first.

If you need to lay down,

And are falling asleep or just getting more comfortable,

Please do so now.

Good.

Now begin by taking in some refreshing deep breaths,

Breathing in and breathing out naturally.

When we begin the meditation process,

We sometimes focus on our breathing a little too much,

Where it feels manufactured or not natural.

Just let go of that feeling,

And know that breathing is natural and automatic for all of us.

Just let it find its correct rhythm now.

Good.

Now let your senses begin to feel out the room or space you're in.

Just begin to hear all the sounds in the room,

And feel the temperature.

Is it hot,

Or is it cold?

And if you still need to get comfortable,

Now is the time to do so.

Just understand that none of those sounds or temperatures in the room will deter you from your session today.

In fact,

Those sounds will only work to take you deeper into your practice.

So begin to notice your thoughts and your feelings.

What do they feel like?

Are your thoughts rapid or slow?

Either way,

Just notice them.

Just notice your physical feelings,

And your emotional ones.

Understand that they do not control you,

And they do not rule you.

You are the master,

And they are the slave.

Just notice them,

And when you do,

Return your focus to the breath.

The simple breath of air coming in and out of the nose.

Notice the cool sensation around the nostrils when you breathe in,

And the warm sensation around the nostrils when you breathe out.

Good.

Just allow yourself a few more deep breaths,

Breathing in all that calm,

And exhaling all the tension and stress in the body.

So breathing in calm,

And exhaling any stress or any tension that's in the body.

Good.

Now you've been feeling discomfort in some part of your body,

And you know that there's a reason for that discomfort,

And you don't have to have it all the time.

Now that you're relaxing,

You can allow your mind to change things for you.

You can use the inner power that is in all of us.

And I want you to imagine that inner power,

Just for a moment,

Just for a moment,

If your eyes are not already closed,

Do so now.

That's right.

And imagine a speck of light in a dark place.

Imagine you're going down into that dark place.

Follow the speck of light,

Like sinking down into a deep,

Dark sea.

Imagine your body sinking down,

And drifting deeper and deeper,

Almost like a submarine disappearing into the silent depths of the dark blue ocean.

And as you imagine that feeling,

Feel your body slowing down,

Your eyes getting heavier,

The weight of your arms and legs as they get heavy and tired,

And you're relaxing deeper and deeper now.

All around you things are becoming quiet,

Quiet and peaceful,

And every sound becomes soothing and gentle,

And every sound is leading you down and down.

As you relax those sounds right out of your mind,

Everything is disappearing.

And the feeling comes over you that nothing really matters now.

As you relax more and more deeply,

You feel that you don't really care anymore,

That you can just let everything go.

And I wonder if you can imagine,

Imagine in that dark space,

A tiny speck of light,

Soft and indistinct,

Like a quiet glow.

And now imagine that glow begins to spread around,

And as it does,

As it softly spreads out,

You feel yourself somehow spreading,

Easing and letting go.

Good.

As you're lying,

Relaxing,

Thinking of nothing and letting things go,

You can become aware that you actually have the ability to let things go completely.

And you know,

There's nothing that has to be,

Nothing that you cannot imagine changing.

And when you're in this relaxed state,

You can do most amazing things.

Your mind has abilities that you may not know you have,

And you can use that power to change how you feel,

How parts of your body react,

To change the sensitivity of your body to pain.

Now focus on the area that usually has the pain.

Become aware of that area.

Really think about it,

About where it is,

How big it is.

Test to find out where the edges of the painful area are.

What's the shape of the area and everything about it.

Now think about the color of the pain.

Imagine what color it would be.

Think of what color it is.

Become aware of that area of pain.

Experience it as a patch of color or a pool of color.

Imagine your mind exploring that area of color.

Feel its extent,

Its width,

Its depth.

And now think of another part of your body.

Perhaps a part nearby,

A part that has no pain,

A part that feels good,

Healthy,

Comfortable.

Just the way it should be.

And think of what color suits that part.

Think of the color of health,

The color of comfort and well-being,

Of positive good feeling.

Imagine an area of good part of your body now.

Imagine it in your mind and decide how big a piece of that healthy,

Comfortable part you want to think about.

And think about the color,

The right color for the part,

The color of health,

Of comfort,

Of ease.

And now allow your mind to first focus on the area of pain and then on the area of comfort.

Be aware of the colors of each.

Feel those colors.

And now imagine you have a paintbrush and you dip that brush into the color of health.

Imagine dipping that brush into the healthy area.

Really get some of that color on the brush,

Load it up and then start to brush that color over the painful area.

Imagine the pain-free color being painted over the pain.

The two colors mixing,

The colors swirling together,

Mixing and changing,

The one color spreading into the other.

And keep taking more and more color from that healthy part and adding it to the pain area until that pain area is changing color,

Becoming different now.

Allow that feeling of health and ease and comfort to spread as those colors are mixing.

Feel the good color replacing the other color and that feeling of change,

Easing,

Becoming more comfortable and continue to add more and more of the comfort and color until the whole of the old area is painted in the new color.

And now enjoy that feeling of relief,

Of knowing that you can change the pain,

That you can allow that discomfort to ease and be pain-free.

Because you have the power to control how you feel,

You have a powerful imagination and that means you can decide for yourself whether you want to use the power of hypnosis or not.

You don't have to feel that discomfort if you choose not to.

You have that power.

You have that control.

You know the way sometimes you find that you don't even notice a noise that has been going on for a long time.

Well that's your mind's way of directing attention and you can choose what you want to notice and you can choose not to notice things you don't want to.

And that means that whenever you choose to,

You can make that feeling go unnoticed.

You can relax it right out of your mind and forget all about that pain.

Just leave it outside of your attention.

It's still there but somehow you just don't notice it anymore.

And you have that ability now,

That ability to take control,

To choose how you want to feel.

It's your right to feel good,

Always.

And you can get really good at feeling good now.

In a moment,

You can count quietly from five up to one.

And when you get to one,

You'll be back to the present,

Awake and alert,

And aware that you've forgotten to notice something and can keep on forgetting.

So begin counting now,

And namaste.

Thank you for this helpful recording. There is a reason for the pain, and this practice allows me to include it without so much focus on it. Blessings 🙏🏼
