Welcome to this session,
Now before we do anything else,
Just hear this.
You don't have to fall asleep right now,
There is no pressure here,
No goal you need to reach,
And if you stay awake well that's okay,
Because for the next little while we're not trying to make sleep happen,
We're just getting comfortable,
And sleep can come on its own,
So let your body settle,
Let it settle exactly where it is,
There's no need to adjust too much,
No need to get it perfect,
Just allow yourself to rest,
So take a slow breath in through the nose,
And let it fall out gently through your mouth,
Good,
Now again,
A slow inhale,
And a longer softer exhale,
Now let your breathing return to normal,
Now you don't need to control it,
And now notice this,
Your mind might still be active,
Thoughts moving,
Jumping,
Even repeating,
And well that's okay,
You don't need to turn them off,
In fact you can let them be there,
Because sleep doesn't require a silent mind,
It requires a relaxed body,
So we'll start there,
So bring your attention to your forehead,
Just notice it,
And then gently let it soften,
Like it's smoothing out on its own,
And now for your eyes,
Resting heavy behind your eyelids,
No effort,
Just wait,
And your jaw,
Loose and unclenched,
Slightly open if it wants to be,
Now for your neck,
And then down into the shoulders,
So let them drop,
Just a little more into whatever is supporting you,
There's nothing to hold up,
There's nothing to even carry,
Jaw sinking,
Now your arms,
Heavy,
Warm and loose,
All the way down into your hands and fingers now,
And let them rest,
And now for your chest,
Rising and falling all on its own,
There's no control and no effort,
Just breathing happening on its own,
And now for your belly,
Soft and unheld,
Settling even deeper into the surface beneath you,
Your legs,
Loose,
Heavy,
And very supported,
All the way down to your V,
Everything is supported,
Nothing to do,
So now notice this,
Your body is already starting to shift,
Slower and heavier,
In your mind,
Well,
It can still be thinking,
And that's fine,
Let the thoughts pass like a distant noise,
You don't need to follow them,
You don't even need to finish them,
They can just drift off into the background,
Almost like a radio playing in another room,
You hear it,
But you're not really listening,
And slowly your attention begins to drift,
Away from thinking,
Away from thinking and into feeling,
The feeling of the bed holding you,
The weight of your body sinking steadily,
The rhythm of your breath,
Steady and automatic,
And with each breath out,
You sink just a little deeper,
Now not forced,
Just natural,
So now imagine this,
You're lying somewhere safe,
Completely undisturbed,
Nothing is expected of you,
No one needs anything here,
There is nowhere to go,
There is nothing to solve,
Everything can wait,
And your body knows this,
So it begins to let go even more,
Deeper into the surface,
Heavier,
Heavier and even heavier,
In your mind,
Well,
It starts to drift,
Thoughts are becoming slower,
Less important,
Fading in and out,
Almost like fragments that don't quite connect,
And that's a good sign,
You don't need to stay aware,
You don't need to hold on to this,
You can let go whenever it happens,
And if your mind picks up again,
Well,
That's okay,
Just come back to the feeling of your body,
The weight,
The warmth and the breath,
And let everything else just fade into the background,
Sleep will come when it's ready,
And until then,
You're just resting,
Just drifting,
Just letting go,
And if you're still here and still listening,
Well,
That's okay too,
Just keep resting,
Keep drifting and keep allowing,
Because the more you allow,
The easier it becomes,
And at some point,
Without you noticing,
You'll be gone,
Good work today,
And namaste.
