Let's notice gravity.
Settling yourself in whatever posture you are right now.
Feeling the sense of down.
Maybe.
Your shoulders are sinking down.
Your arms,
Your hands resting somewhere.
The feeling of connection to your chair.
Or your feet on the floor.
The feeling of heaviness in your body.
The feeling of down created by the force of gravity.
And all we need to do is just pay attention.
It's very easy.
We forget.
Because gravity is always there.
It's constant.
The body doesn't really need to notice.
But we can pay attention on purpose.
Following.
The line of gravity down through your body maybe through the chair,
Through the floor.
If you're in a building.
Following it down through the building itself into the foundations.
Or if you're on the ground already.
Then we find the ground.
Soil perhaps.
And just by paying attention,
By noticing gravity,
We encounter our planet,
Planet Earth.
Beneath your body,
Beneath the building you're in,
There are thousands and thousands of kilometres of rock.
In front of you,
Behind you,
Left and right,
Our planet extending.
Thousands of kilometers.
We feel.
Grounding.
The embodied feeling of being on the ground,
Noticing that you're touching the ground,
That you're existing in a tiny piece of the surface of our planet.
Just by noticing gravity.
You can feel held.
By our planet Earth,
By Mother Earth.
The place where,
Of course,
We all came from.
Our physical bodies have grown out of planet Earth and our physical bodies will one day dissolve back into our planet Earth.
And it feels like what's underneath us is very fixed and solid.
And for sure,
It does feel that way.
But actually,
Our planet is very dynamic.
Not far beneath the surface we have layers of molten rock moving around.
Creates volcanoes and earthquakes and things.
And of course our planet is also spinning in space.
Creating our days and nights.
And orbiting the sun?
Going around once per year as part of our solar system.
And yet,
Here we are.
Feeling grounded,
Feeling held and supported.
By our vast planet.
So simple.
Just noticing the feeling of down.
