Hello my sweet friend.
Welcome to Storytime with Nana Jojo.
I'm so happy you're here.
I'm Nana Jojo,
And I have another wonderful story to share with you today.
But first,
Let's get cozy.
Grab your favorite stuffie!
Find a soft blanket and let's snuggle in.
Now let's take some slow,
Deep breaths together.
When we take slow,
Deep breaths,
Our bodies feel nice and calm.
Take a big breath in through your nose.
And breathe out with a happy sigh like this.
Let's do that again.
Big breath in.
And breathe out.
Hmm.
One more time.
Big breath in.
And breathe out.
Super duper job!
Do you feel nice and calm?
Yay,
I do too.
Okay,
My sweet little one,
It's time for our story.
This is a story about Luna,
The little star.
The kind and caring star who loves to help children from high up in the night sky.
Today,
Luna helps her friend Drizzle the Cloud learn something very important.
It's a story about feelings and how every single one is okay.
Are you ready?
All right,
Let's begin.
Once upon a time,
There was a little star in the sky named Luna.
Luna loved her special job helping children feel safe and peaceful at bedtime.
Every night,
Luna shined her soft,
Gentle light through bedroom windows.
One evening,
Luna was just starting to twinkle softly up in the night sky when she saw something a little strange.
Luna noticed that her friend Drizzle the Cloud was turning lots of different colors.
First he was gray.
Then paint.
Then dark purple.
Then bright yellow.
And all just in a few moments.
Drizzle,
Are you okay?
Luna called out.
Drizzle floated over to Luna.
His colors were still changing.
Oh Luna,
I don't know what's wrong with me.
My colors keep changing and I can't make them stop.
Tell me what's happening,
Luna said in a warm,
Kind voice.
Drizzle swirled around a little,
And he turned a worried shade of blue.
This morning I felt happy and excited and I turned bright yellow.
But then I saw some big storm clouds and I felt a little scared,
So I turned gray.
Oh,
I see,
Said Luna.
But then my friend Breeze told a silly joke and I felt giggly so I turned pink.
And then I found out that Rainbow has to go visit her grandma far away.
I felt sad because I will miss her.
And then I turned purple.
Drizzle stopped.
He looked more confused.
And just now,
Windy the wind tickled me and I felt annoyed,
So I turned a dark stormy color.
Luna,
I keep changing and changing.
Something must be wrong with me.
Shouldn't I just pick one color?
Shouldn't I just feel happy all the time?
Luna's light was soft and kind.
Oh Drizzle,
Nothing is wrong with you.
You're having lots of different feelings and that's exactly what you're supposed to do.
But I keep changing so much.
Drizzle said.
He then turned orange.
See,
I just changed again.
I should be able to pick one feeling and stay with it,
Right?
Can I tell you a secret?
Luna asked.
Yes,
Please tell me,
Said Dressel.
Every color you turn is a feeling.
And every single one of them is okay,
Luna said.
Happy is OK.
Scared is okay.
Sad is okay.
Annoyed is okay.
Even silly is okay.
All of your feelings are okay,
Drizzle.
Really?
Drew the last.
He turned a soft purple.
Even the grumpy ones.
And even the sad ones?
Especially those ones,
Luna said.
Feelings aren't good or bad.
They're just feelings.
They're your heart's way of telling you what's going on.
What's going on inside you and what's going on all around you.
But it's so confusing to have so many feelings,
" Drizzle said.
Wouldn't it be easier just to feel happy all the time?
Luna twinkled.
She had an idea.
Let me show you something.
Do you see how I shine?
Yes,
Said Drizzle,
You shine so nicely.
Well,
My light doesn't always look the same,
Drizzle.
Sometimes it shines soft for babies when they need to sleep.
Sometimes it shines brighter for children who are scared of the dark.
Sometimes it glows warm and cozy.
And sometimes it shimmers cool and calm.
I never noticed that,
Said Drizzle.
Your feelings are just like my light.
They change to match what's happening in your life.
If you only felt happy all the time,
You wouldn't know when something was wrong.
You wouldn't know when you needed help.
What do you mean?
Drizzle asked.
Luna spoke gently.
When you felt scared about the storm clouds,
That feeling was helping you.
It was saying,
Pay attention,
Stay safe.
When you felt sad about rainbow leaving.
That feeling was showing how much you love her.
And when you felt annoyed at Wendy.
.
.
That feeling was saying,
I need a little space right now.
Drizzle turned a soft,
Thoughtful blue.
So.
.
.
So my feelings are trying to help me?
Exactly,
Says Luna.
Every feeling has a job.
Your feelings are all part of you.
And they're all okay to have.
But Luna,
Drizzle said quietly,
Turning a soft pink color.
Sometimes my feelings feel very,
Very big.
Like when I'm really,
Really sad.
Or really,
Really angry.
Those big feelings scare me.
Luna's light wrapped around Drizzle just like a warm hug.
Big feelings can feel like a lot,
Right?
But here's something important to note,
Dressel.
Even big feelings are okay to have.
And big feelings don't last forever.
They kind of come like waves,
Right?
They get big.
And then slowly they get smaller again.
They do?
Astrozole Yes,
They do,
Luna promised.
And do you know what helps big feelings?
What?
Said Dressel.
Letting yourself feel them.
Don't try to push them away.
If you feel sad,
It's okay to cry.
If you feel angry,
You can say,
I feel angry right now.
If you feel scared.
You can say,
I'm scared and I need help.
Your feelings need to be felt so they can move through you like clouds moving across the sky.
Drizzle thought about this,
And he turned a calm,
Gentle gray.
So I shouldn't hide my feelings or pretend I only feel happy?
No,
Said Luna.
Hiding your feelings doesn't make them go away.
It just keeps them stuck inside.
Then they get bigger and bigger and heavier and heavier.
But when you let yourself feel them.
And maybe even talk about them,
They can move through you.
And then there's room for new feelings.
Just then,
Rainbow appeared.
She was getting ready for her trip.
She saw Drizzle and Luna talking,
And so she came over.
Drizzle,
I'm so happy I found you before I leave.
I wanted to say goodbye.
Said Rainbow.
Drizzle started to turn purple,
His sad color.
Then he stopped and looked at Luna.
Is it okay if I feel sad that Rainbow is leaving?
He asked quietly.
Of course it is,
Luna said.
Feeling sad can show love.
Drizzle turned to rainbow.
He let himself turn a deep,
Gentle purple.
Rainbow,
I feel really sad that you are leaving.
I'm going to miss you so much when you're gone.
Rainbow smiled.
I feel sad too,
Drizzle,
And I will miss you too.
But do you know what?
Feeling sad about saying goodbye,
That means we're very good friends.
It means we care about each other.
Really?
" said Drizzle.
Yes,
Really,
Said Rainbow.
I'll be back in just three days,
But it's still okay to miss me.
Your sad feeling just shows how much our friendship matters.
Drizzle felt the sadness in his cloud heart.
But this time,
Instead of pushing it away,
He let it be there.
And then something wonderful happened.
The sadness was still there.
But it didn't feel scary anymore.
It just felt like love.
After Rainbow left,
Drizzle floated beside Luna again.
Luna,
I have a question,
Said Drizzle.
Yes,
Drizzle,
I'm listening.
What should I do when I have a feeling?
Just feel it?
Luna glowed with a happy light.
Yes!
Here's what you can do.
First,
Notice the feeling.
You can say to yourself,
I'm feeling angry right now,
Or I'm feeling excited.
Then let yourself feel it.
Don't push it away.
If you need to,
You can talk about it with a grown-up you trust.
And remember,
The feeling will not last forever.
Soon a new feeling will come along.
What if someone tells me I shouldn't feel a certain way?
Drizzle asked.
Then you can remember what I told you tonight,
Luna said.
All feelings are okay.
No one can tell you that your feelings are wrong.
Feelings are not right or wrong.
They just are.
You get to choose what you do about your feelings,
But the feelings themselves,
They're always okay to have.
Drizzle drifted along peacefully beside Luna.
His colors began to settle into a soft,
Calm blue.
I feel calm now,
He said,
Full of wonder.
Is calm a feeling too?
Yes,
It is,
Said Luna.
And it's a lovely one,
Isn't it?
I think I was trying so hard not to feel certain feelings that I made myself more worried and more confused,
Drizzle said.
Yeah,
That happens sometimes,
Luna said.
But now you know.
You can feel whatever you feel.
Happy,
Sad.
Angry.
Scared Excited?
Proud.
Loving peaceful.
They're all a part of being you and they're all okay.
That happens sometimes,
Luna said.
But now you know.
You can feel whatever you feel.
It's all just fine.
Happy,
Sad,
Angry,
Scared,
Excited,
Proud.
Loving.
.
.
Peaceful.
And calm.
They're all a part of being you,
Drizzle,
And they're all okay.
Drizzle smiled and turned a warm,
Cozy lavender color.
Thank you,
Lona.
I'm not confused anymore.
My feelings are like my colors.
They're all a part of me.
They make me who I am.
That's exactly right,
Luna said.
When you let yourself feel all your feelings,
You understand yourself better.
You know what you need,
And you know what you care about.
You know it's important to you.
As all the stars came out that night,
Drizzle floated peacefully beside Luna.
His colors still changed.
Soft yellow when he thought about tomorrow.
Gentle purple when he thought about rainbow.
Warm pink when he remembered Breeze's silly joke.
But now we understood.
All of those feelings were okay.
He wasn't trying to be just one color anymore.
He was letting himself be exactly who he was.
Feelings and all.
And that felt just right.
The end.
And so my sweet little listener,
What did we learn from our story today?
We learned that all feelings are okay.
Happy feelings?
Sad feelings.
Angry feelings scared feelings,
And everything else in between.
We learn that feelings aren't good or bad.
They're just feelings.
Feelings help us understand ourselves and the world around us.
They come and go just like waves.
As our storytime comes to an end.
Remember,
You can feel all your feelings.
Most of all,
Remember that you are loved.
You are special and Nana Jojo loves you so very much.
I'll be right here when you're ready for another story.
If it's time for you to sleep now,
I'm wishing you the sweetest and happiest dreams.
Sleep tight,
My little love.
I'll see you again soon.
Good night.
