Take a comfortable position.
If it's safe to do so,
Allow your eyes to gently close.
If you're outside watching the sunset,
Simply soften your gaze and let nature become part of this experience.
Welcome.
I'm really glad you're here.
Today I don't want to teach you anything.
I don't want to ask you to improve yourself.
I don't want to give you another strategy or another task to complete.
Instead,
I'd like to offer you something many of us rarely give ourselves.
Permission.
Permission to simply stop.
Take a slow,
Deep breath in through your nose.
And gently let it go.
Again,
Breathe in and breathe out.
Allow your shoulders to soften.
Relax your jaw.
Unclench your hands.
Notice your feet.
Notice the chair beneath you or the ground supporting your body.
For these next few minutes,
Nothing needs to happen.
Nothing needs to be fixed.
Nothing needs to be figured out.
The emails can wait.
The dishes can wait.
Tomorrow can wait.
For now.
.
.
Just be here.
Imagine yourself sitting outside at the end of a long day.
Maybe it's your backyard.
Maybe it's your favorite trail.
Or maybe.
.
.
It's simply your own front yard.
A place you've walked past hundreds of times.
A place that's been patiently waiting for you to notice it.
A small fire crackles nearby.
The warmth reaches your legs.
The evening air is cool against your skin.
The world has become quieter.
Birds begin their final songs before nightfall.
The breeze gently moves through the trees.
Somewhere in the distance,
Water softly reflects the last light of the day.
Another slow breath.
There was nowhere else you need to be.
Allow yourself to notice the colors,
The deep greens beneath your feet,
Steady,
Grounding,
Alive,
The rich browns of the tree trunks standing nearby,
Trees that have weathered storms,
Heavy winds,
Long winters,
And still they continue reaching toward the sky.
Maybe you've had seasons like that too.
Now lift your attention toward the horizon.
The sun is beginning its slow descent.
Notice the warm oranges,
The brilliant golds,
The soft reds,
Hints of pink stretching across the clouds,
Gentle blues beginning to welcome the coming evening,
The sunlight filters through every branch.
Every leaf.
Every opening.
Painting colors that exist only for a few moments before changing again.
Take your time.
There's nothing to rush.
Nature never rushes a sunset.
It unfolds exactly as it's meant to be.
One beautiful moment after another.
Perhaps that's true of healing too.
Maybe healing was never meant to be rushed.
Maybe it unfolds,
One breath,
One choice,
One quiet evening at a time.
Watch how the light dances across the trees,
Across the water,
Across the grass,
Across your own body.
The light never clings to where it has been.
It simply shines,
Then gently lets go without fear.
Fear,
Without resiliency,
Without apology.
Nature never apologizes for changing colors.
Maybe.
You don't have to apologize for changing either.
Take another slow breath.
As you breathe in.
.
.
Notice if there's something you've been carrying today.
A worry,
An expectation,
A difficult conversation,
A disappointment,
A fear about tomorrow.
You don't have to solve it right now.
Just notice that you're holding it.
Now imagine placing it beside you.
Not throwing it away.
Not pretending it doesn't exist.
Simply setting it down.
Just for tonight.
You can always return to it tomorrow.
But for these few moments.
.
.
You deserve a break from carrying everything.
Feel the warmth of the fire.
Hear the quiet rhythm of nature.
Notice how your body begins to soften when it realizes it no longer has to stay on high alert.
This is what your nervous system has been asking for,
Not perfection.
Not productivity.
Not another accomplishment.
Just a moment of safety.
A moment to breathe.
A moment to remember what it feels like to simply exist.
Mental health isn't always about doing more.
Sometimes it's about honoring a sunset.
Listening to a guided meditation.
Feeling the warmth of a fire.
Watching the colors slowly fade from orange to gold to crimson to deep blue.
Sometimes healing begins the moment we stop trying so hard.
The sunset never asks us to fix it.
It simply invites us to witness it.
Maybe today,
That's enough.
As the last light settles beyond the horizon,
Notice something remarkable.
The sun doesn't fight the darkness.
It trusts that morning will come.
Perhaps you can offer yourself that same trust.
You don't have to have every answer tonight.
You don't have to solve your whole life before you go to sleep.
You don't have to earn your rest.
Rest is not a reward.
It's part of being human.
Take one final deep breath in,
And hold it gently.
And slowly let it go.
As you return to your evening.
I hope you'll remember this.
Peace isn't always found on a mountaintop.
Sometimes it's found in your own front yard.
Sometimes it's sitting beside a small fire,
Watching the colors of the sky change,
And allowing yourself to change with them.
Not because you forced it,
But because you finally became still enough to notice.
Just stop.
Just breathe.
Just let go.
The world will keep turning while you reconnect with yourself.
Thank you for spending this time with me.
Until next time.
Take good care of yourself.
This is Wilson.
