This is a recording of an Insight Timer Live Event. Throughout evolution, exposure to sunlight and the photosynthesis of vitamin D have been critically important for the evolution of land vertebrates. But all of a sudden in the past few decades, we have been burying the Sun from our lives while simultaneously increasing our exposure to artificial light. Could this be a foundational mistake for our health? Has the status quo’s fear of the sun been blown out of proportion? The 2017 Nobel Prize was won for “Circadian Medicine” simply showing that ‘going back to nature’ is the prescription for healing. Dylan shares how to work with the Sun to optimise your health and re-establish this important and foundational human-Sun relationship.

Hello,

Welcome to Insight Timer live on the sun.

If you guys can hear me,

Give me a thumbs up,

Give me a comment and we are going to get underway.

For those who have heard me speak on Insight Timer before,

I sincerely appreciate you coming back and it's good sound today,

It's good internet today.

We've changed computers for those in the past who are familiar with that.

So let me know please in the comments where you are in the world right now because you may be in the summer,

You may be in the winter,

You may be north of the equator,

You may be northern hemisphere,

Southern hemisphere,

Wherever you are,

Comment where you are because we're going to be speaking about the sun.

The sun,

One of the foundational beings in our earth,

In our lives and we're going to learn how to interact with the sun in a way that optimizes our health,

Physical,

Spiritual.

So we're getting a lot of people from US and from the northern hemisphere in winter.

So this is good for you guys to know for the upcoming seasons and especially if you're in winter and you're in places like Vancouver,

British Columbia or places where it's really cold winters and you lack sun for half the year,

This is going to be a really important session for you because you need to create more actions in your life that allows you to obtain the benefits from the sun.

So if anyone else is having headsets on the left only,

Let us know,

Otherwise I'm grateful for it working well.

Okay,

So other people are,

I don't know what's with that,

But sorry,

We're going to have to just keep it on the left side for you guys.

So the sun,

All right,

Today what we're going to speak about is we're going to take an overview of the sun,

All right,

And why the sun has got a bad reputation and why it does not deserve to it.

It should be innocent until proven guilty and it is definitely,

We need to stop seeing the sun as this evil sentient being or this evil entity,

Rather a divine being who is the very giver of life itself.

And simply shifting that perspective to the sun allows you to commune with the sun in a healthy way.

And by health I mean you're obtaining physical and of course spiritual mental benefits.

So if you guys want,

We can go into those more subtle spiritual relationships with the sun and we're going to speak about the science of sun interaction,

Particularly with the skin.

Okay,

A lot of this is related with skin cancers and the fear of skin cancer.

So we're going to relate with this and how to improve your skin physiology,

How to improve your skin health because that is really the foundational way that we're interacting with the sun through our skin.

And that is the real cause of melanomas and skin cancers and all this.

So hi Evie,

Hi Sveta,

This is really good that people are joining us from all around the world.

Thank you for sharing your locations and of course,

You know,

Sveta,

I can see different people,

Different skin types as well and different skin colors,

Which changes the amount of melanin in your skin,

Which is creating a natural sunscreen or a natural buffer,

Which means you have to adjust certain things.

So once again,

For those in rainy North Carolina,

For those in Canada,

Those in very cold,

This is going to be so important for you because you guys especially need to interact and utilize sun energy when you can.

We're also going to give some areas for Q&A at the end and throughout.

If you guys have questions,

Feel free to pop them up,

You might just have to ask them again.

So now,

Someone just mentioned vitamin D,

Like vitamin D is one aspect,

But the reality is the sun.

Let's just start at the foundation.

The sun,

Of course,

It's a sentient being,

It is the very giver of life itself.

In Ayurveda,

Well,

Before we start,

I mean,

I always forget.

You guys,

I'll give a brief introduction to me.

My name is Dylan.

I'm an Ayurvedic practitioner and holistic health educator.

I'm based in Australia.

I educate and travel the world for consultations and to lecture and the beauty of the internet,

The beauty of Inside Timer.

In Ayurveda,

For those,

So Ayurveda means the science of life.

It's a Sanskrit word.

It's Ayurveda,

The root Ayu or Ayahu means life and Veda is science or knowledge.

What science?

So it's the science of life.

Ayurveda is the science of life,

The knowledge of life.

What type of science?

Well,

The science or the knowledge that is derived from the laws of nature.

So the science which we speak about when we say Veda is the laws of nature.

How does nature operate?

So when we look at Ayurveda,

It's how does nature operate in life,

In lifespan,

In human life?

So Ayurveda is fundamental to natural law.

So that's why Ayurveda has a say on every single thing.

We can speak about vitamin D.

We can speak about photosynthesis.

We can speak about photoendocrinology,

Which is the relationship between photons,

Light and endocrinology,

Hormones,

Which I might speak about a bit today.

So Ayurveda has a say on everything and its principles.

It's not about living in India or it's not about living,

Eating Indian food.

Like Ayurveda are principles of natural law,

Which can be applied to minus seven in the UK,

Minus 30 in Canada.

It can be applied to the Amazon jungle in Brazil.

It can be applied to Australia,

East Coast.

Ayurveda is about principles and it is about applying it to your unique situation.

Yes,

You.

I'm speaking to you on Insight Timer.

Yeah.

Where is your unique?

Where do you live?

Where do you live in the world?

What is your situation?

Do you have a family and a full time job?

Do you live in a certain climate?

Okay.

So this is Desha Kalapatra.

Desha is your habitat.

Kala is the time.

Is it winter?

Is it summer?

Is it?

And Patra is the unique individual,

Your unique situation.

So Ayurveda is about using the principles to your situation.

And today I'm going to speak about some of the principles of the sun.

So first of all,

The sun.

We have clearly blown out of proportion the sun and we're seeing it as a evil entity.

The reality is melanoma,

For example,

And the big,

Of course,

I don't have to say,

I'm sure many of you know,

The big fear about sun is the scores of melanoma,

Of skin cancers.

But melanoma has risen 23 by 23 times.

The amount of melanoma incidence has risen.

This was between 1935 and 2012.

So in about 70 years,

We had this 23 times increase.

In that 70 years,

We have had a significant reduction in our exposure to sun.

And we've significantly shifted from working outside to inside.

In US,

About 75% of people are now working inside and before it was 75% working outside.

So along with that,

We're using more and more sunscreen.

So there's a big irony here.

We're getting a lot of less sun and we're using more sunscreen and we're getting much more higher rates of melanoma.

Now the key thing,

And I said it earlier,

I'll say it again,

The key factor in this discussion today and in melanomas in sun is all about skin physiology.

In Ayurveda,

You may have heard of the dosha,

The element called pitta.

Pitta is the fire element,

Fire.

Fire wants to metabolize anything.

The big thing,

How many of you heard of agni?

The word agni means digestifier.

This digestifier is the fire in our gut,

Which metabolizes everything,

Whether it's a toxin,

A pollutant,

A food,

Drink.

Well we have an agni,

We have a pitta on our skin.

We call it rajaka pitta,

Which means the fire of our skin.

How well can our skin metabolize whatever comes into contact with it?

How well can our skin metabolize the sun?

How well can our skin metabolize a chemical,

Sunscreen or a chemical perfume or deodorant or a moisturizer?

How well can it absorb a natural moisturizer,

A medicinal oil,

A healing ayurvedic medicated massage oil?

How well can your skin metabolize that?

How well can your skin metabolize smoke?

How well can your skin metabolize mosquito bites?

How well can your skin metabolize blue light sitting in an airport with the blue light shining your skin?

This is all determined on how healthy the pitta of your skin is.

In other words,

How healthy the fire element is,

Or if we want to go real ayurvedic terms for the ayurvedic nerds and ayurvedic students and practitioners,

Rajaka pitta,

That sub-dosha,

That aspect of the fire element,

Which is responsible for skin metabolism.

And that's the key take home today,

Which I'm going to share with you ways to optimize your skin physiology so you can enjoy the sun and so you can be more resilient to tap water,

Having a shower in chlorinated,

Fluoride-induced tap water.

How can you not be so hypersensitive to some of the products out there and everything?

So this is what we're going to do today.

We're going to also find out why a surge of melanoma is coming,

Why there's a surge of these melanomas,

And really want to ultimately break down the highly misunderstood belief that the sun is a dangerous carcinogen and really give truth,

Especially in Australia.

How many of you in Australia?

I don't think I've seen anyone from Australia.

But in Australia,

Especially because of this apparently ozone thing going on,

They really like to put it straight where the sun is a carcinogen.

So we really need to break social conditioning and learn the truth and really supersede because it starts with the mind.

So first of all,

And feel free to get your pen and paper out,

I'm going to give you a bunch of practical things for you to implement.

But the first thing is really shift your relationship with the sun.

Start seeing the sun as a divine sentient being,

The very giver of life itself.

Without the sun,

We would not be here.

And also how this theory that sun causes skin cancer arose.

By the way,

Sun can cause skin cancer,

No doubt.

It's just very rare that it does.

I wouldn't say very rare,

But it rarely does.

But why it's a theory that the sun causes so much skin cancer?

Well,

The studies that show that UV ultraviolet radiation causes skin cancer was done on nocturnal animals,

I.

E.

Rats.

So we've got cat studies and a lot of things such as the greatest myth of medical history is,

You know,

Subjectively,

But a lot of people will set a lot of doctors and scientists say the biggest myth of medical history.

Does anyone want to guess what the biggest myth of medical history is?

Out of all that you can type in the chat,

Out of all the things which have been told,

What is the biggest myth of medical history?

I'll give you a clue.

It's related with heart health,

The biggest killer in the world today,

Cardiovascular disease.

And it's related with the diet.

So I'll leave it there,

But for you guys to have some time,

If anyone wants to have a go at thinking what's the biggest myth of medical history,

Because the thing with these myths and why these fallacies come up,

Such as the sun causes skin cancer,

Is because there's studies done and the studies are either fraud,

Corrupt,

Or they're just insufficient.

Such as with the sun,

The study was on nocturnal animals and they were not giving them sun.

They were giving them ultraviolet light from blue artificial light in a non-native electromagnetic field environment.

So I'll say that again,

The nocturnal animals,

Rats,

We are diurnal,

They're nocturnal.

They were getting light in the day from ultraviolet light from blue light,

Artificial light.

So this is really,

Really a problem.

And by the way,

Humans are kind of the only species that we don't really regulate our water exposure and our light exposure,

Whether it's animals,

When it's too hot,

They go.

When they're hot enough,

They leave.

They know how to regulate themselves.

So that's why you can't really compare animal studies to human skin,

In terms of skin,

Animal skin to human,

Because they know what they need.

They turn away when their molecular light harvesting has been finished.

Even with leaves,

Leaves and plants will turn away when they've had enough sun.

But humans,

We lost our furry skin,

We've kind of lost the sophistication in our skin structure.

So it's harder.

But again,

That's how it arose.

It was from these rats.

And by the way,

The biggest myth in medical history is that cholesterol causes heart disease or that fat causes heart disease.

And that's been exposed.

Actually the sugar industry,

I think it was Coca-Cola,

But some sugar brand was funding Harvard University to publish those studies in order to take the pressure off sugar and say,

Hold on,

Sugar is not the culprit.

It's actually,

Apparently it's fat.

And that's when Harvard was publishing that fat is a killer and cholesterol is bad and need fat free diet and all this stuff.

Now we know that fat is absolutely crucial for heart health and brain health and so many things.

And we've known all along,

Of course,

But so these things is a problem why it came.

So I want to speak a bit about,

Yeah,

Let's speak about the science of interacting with the sun and acknowledging everyone here.

And this is really important.

Everyone here is unique.

Everyone has a unique skin.

Everyone has a unique tan,

A level of tan.

Some people may be colored skin,

Which means they have more melanin still.

You can get burnt if you have darker colored skin with more melanin.

Overall,

What we want,

The pathology of what happens is we want our skin to get pink.

It gives nitric oxide,

Which is a Nobel Prize award winning substance.

It is very beneficial in many ways.

One of the things is it dilates,

It's a vasodilator.

So when we get the sun,

Right,

We get pink because our red blood cells and our porphyrins and hemoglobin is coming up to the skin to absorb the UV.

We are like plants.

I call it human photosynthesis.

We're full of water.

And when the sun shines,

Our water comes and we absorb the UV energy and that gives us energy and enhances the movement of our circulatory system,

Our lymph system,

Our neurotransmitters.

It oxygenates our body with prana.

In the yoga Vedantic system,

We have prana,

Life force.

We get that life force from the sun.

The sun is the liver of life.

So we are full of water.

Another fundamental element,

Water,

Which people aren't,

Majority of people don't recognize how important water is and that we are mostly water.

And the water light interaction is very important.

We're full of water.

We need to absorb light.

So we sunbathe,

We get sun exposure on our skin,

Not on our clothes,

On our skin,

And the wet red blood cells,

Porphyrins,

Hemoglobin comes up to the skin,

Absorbs the UV.

Great.

We're trying to get UV.

It's not the enemy and we're getting pink.

That's a good sign.

We're capturing sunlight for vital prana function,

For vital bodily functions.

When we get red,

That's too much.

So start with that.

That's simple.

Get pink more often and the pink should fade overnight at least or quicker.

So red is too much.

Pink is good.

We want to be increasing our exposure gradually and especially for,

You know,

I've worked with Scottish people.

Is anyone here from Scottish descent or from United Kingdom descent where,

You know,

You maybe got redhead freckles,

Pale skin,

Very pale skin.

Anyone here with very pale skin?

I've worked with Scottish people and seen them got a tan.

And tan is not just for good looks if that's what you think it looks good,

But it's a good healthy tan is a good sign.

So we want to gradually increase.

And of course,

If we're in the summer,

We want to avoid midday sun.

If you're not there yet,

Some people with a tan,

They can be there out for the hours.

Some people without a tan,

With pale skin,

They got to do five minutes a day and build up increments.

Don't be fearful.

You need to build up,

Right?

And also,

Of course,

Vitamin D.

I'm not going to go into vitamin D today,

But vitamin D is not many.

Vitamin D is really a hormone.

There's not many vitamin D and thyroid.

There's not many hormones or anything,

Any messenger or any biological function,

Which is in every single cell of the body and vitamin D.

And someone said earlier in the chat about listening to a one and a half hour lecture on vitamin D or something.

I briefly read it.

Vitamin D is really involved in every vital biological process and from cancer,

Skin cancer to so many things with cancer.

Some patients will do high dose vitamin D,

Whether it's via pills or intravenously.

So of course,

I'm not going to go vitamin D.

We could do a whole lecture on vitamin D,

But really important to enhance your sun exposure and you don't get it from vitamin D capsules.

That's an important thing also to know for you living in all of you,

There's so many of you right now in the winter in the northern hemisphere,

Canada,

US.

You may need to take vitamin D,

Sure.

But even to my patients in Australia,

What I say is it's a sunny day.

Don't take your vitamin D,

Get sun.

It's not the same.

With the supplement,

You're getting a chemical signal.

With the sun on the skin,

You're getting also photonic power.

You're getting this photosynthesis power of that charging up of the mitochondria,

Of that which are the powerhouses of our cells,

That real foundational energy.

And I'm not just talking about energy to,

Yeah,

I got to get up and do my work and take care of the kids and cook and like not just that physical energy,

But cellular energy in order to heal any chronic disease,

Anything we want cellular energy.

So we want to really have that underlying foundational sustainable core energy,

Mitochondrial energy,

And for that,

Photonic energy.

If you live in the snow right now,

Snowing where you are right now,

So many of you,

Okay,

Not even so extreme.

If it's cold,

If it's winter,

Like as much as possible,

Protect from the wind.

And if it's not too cold,

And I'm not talking snow,

I'm talking about more mild conditions like for example,

Australian winter or maybe British Columbia summer,

Then you want to get outside.

You want natural light.

And this is a really important thing with sun exposure.

You want natural light hitting the skin without glass,

Okay,

Without windows.

If you're in the winter,

It's fine,

But generally,

We want without the window.

The window blocks the UV light and blocking UV is an issue,

Same with the eyes when you're wearing glasses and I've got talks on Insight Timer about glasses and many things I think maybe on the sleep course I've got,

But we don't want to have glasses in front of our eyes or our skin to the natural light because that is blocking UV.

And when we block one of the many,

Many,

Many spectrums of light,

We are getting at what I call an unholistic spectrum of light.

The sun,

You know,

Modern science doesn't even understand the spectrum of light from the sun.

It's so sophisticated.

It has so many frequencies beyond what science has calculated and analyzed and concluded on what frequencies are available.

There are so many more frequencies.

And when we block UV,

We're creating an altered spectrum,

Right?

So like subtracted,

It's kind of like CBD or curcumin,

You know,

You're just taking one compound out of the plant and then you're taking it without the whole holistic effect.

No,

We want holistic effect with plants and herbs.

We want a holistic spectrum of hitting our body.

We don't want to take some out and then let some of the sunlight hit us.

We want a whole spectrum.

So if you wear glasses,

Make sure you get some full spectrum hitting your retina when you can.

Even if I say to my patients who really like basically wear glasses full time because they really can't see without it,

It doesn't matter.

Sit outside and just let the light,

Even though you can't see,

Let it go into your eyes.

That will trigger really important hormones.

And on Insight Time,

Of course,

We have a course on sleep,

10 lessons and 10 techniques and nuggets of wisdom to optimize sleep.

And one of them is about,

Ready for this word,

If you like to study,

You can write this down,

Photo endocrinology,

Photo light endocrinology hormones,

The relationship between light and hormones.

So many hormones are generated by light.

When it hits the eye,

It sends pituitary gland hormones,

Secrete thyroid hormones,

Sex hormones,

Reproductive hormones,

Adrenal hormones,

Stress hormones,

Melatonin,

Anti-cancer,

Anti-inflammatory.

So eyes are really important when we speak about hormonal health,

Super important.

Light is really important.

Summary,

We don't want altered spectrums,

Whether it's glasses or windows.

We want to be outside.

We are creatures of light.

Okay.

A lot of information.

I know if you want me to repeat on anything,

We can go.

But I did,

And I want to like have more questions and discuss,

But I want to just wrap up some other things.

Blue light destroys melatonin.

So the issue with these rats were they were getting blue light.

Blue light is a really toxic light,

Especially at the nighttime,

Mainly at the nighttime,

Because blue light,

Which is,

For those who don't know,

It's artificial light.

It's light coming from lights.

It's light coming from your screen.

Blue light is what gives,

We call it visible light in the light spectrum science,

And that lies outside of the spectral range of what photobiologists will define as harmful,

Okay?

So harmful radiation.

So blue light or visible light,

And it's between 400 and 700 nanometers,

That has the impact of producing uneven pigmentation in the skin.

So I do a lot of work in India.

I used to live there half the year.

A lot of,

And I was doing these lectures on the sun because Indians are really,

In general,

A lot of them are fearful of the sun because they don't want their skin to get more dark.

And they're also scared of melasma,

Which is an uneven pigmentation on the skin.

Not only Indians,

Other people,

Many people are scared of melasma,

Again,

Uneven pigmentation.

The light frequency which will be the most harmful and which is the most harmful in creating melasma,

Uneven skin pigmentation,

Is blue light.

So if you're sitting in front of a TV for two hours watching a movie,

Or even worse,

In like a real,

Like in India,

The light situation is really bad.

There's LEDs everywhere.

If you work in a hospital,

Like any of these really heavy blue light areas,

Modern indoor blue light,

Energy efficient LED lights,

Then you're really getting that melasma producing blue light.

Blind people know when it's day or night,

Right?

Blind people know when it is day or night.

The reason for this is because there is melanopsin.

There are photoreceptors in your skin.

There are receptors in your skin that know the light,

That absorbing the light.

It's not just in your eyes.

So if you are working in a singlet and shorts in blue light,

You're going to get affected.

Look,

It's not the worst thing,

Like getting light hit your skin.

It's much worse to go in your eyes.

But this just shows like we really want the red light hitting our skin.

That lowers your risk of melanogenesis,

Which is imbalanced skin pigmentation and also skin cancers and things like that.

So red light will prevent this impaired skin physiology.

It will support it.

It will make you healthy.

Like the sun,

Like it gives you a tan,

You also have more resilience.

So we want to work up to a tan.

And for those,

I'm going to be a bit more practical besides what I talked about the timing of how to work up to a tan.

And I'm going to give more practical information on skin physiology,

Because again,

For the people who have recently joined,

The bottom line of this lecture is about skin physiology.

How can we improve our skin so that we can metabolize the sun for vitamin D,

The most important hormone in our body,

And also protect from any chemicals,

From pollutants,

From harmful.

.

.

Like a way to protect from getting sunburn is to have a good physiology,

Good skin physiology so that you can metabolize it and obtain and absorb the benefits from it.

So a bunch more like just on the topic of does the sun really cause skin cancer?

It can,

But quite rarely.

It's mostly caused by improper melatonin,

Which is the key anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory hormone.

I call it the king of the hormones,

Melatonin.

It's heavily governed by light.

Melatonin is really,

Really important to give sleep and also in the day.

In the day,

We get a lot of melatonin from the light,

And in the night,

We get it from the darkness.

And in my sleep course on Insight Timer,

I've got a whole course on melatonin.

Sorry,

I've missed a bunch of questions,

So I'm going to get to it soon.

People,

I fully have not been able to see this,

But yes,

Cholesterol fraud.

Oh,

I didn't see that.

Fat is bad for you.

Okay.

Jenny got it right.

The most biggest myth in medical history.

So yes,

Just reading some Scottish-Irish descent,

Wonderful.

We'll talk about vitamin D3.

Can you overdose on it?

Definitely,

You can overdose on vitamin D.

We really want to,

Especially with intravenous,

We want to be careful on these IV therapies.

There's now clinics coming up of,

Oh,

Get your tuberic IV,

Get your vitamin D,

Get your vitamin C IV.

It certainly has a place in time,

But it's more for acute treatments,

Whether it's cancer or something which really needs fast.

When we're doing IV,

Which means intravenous,

We're bypassing the digestive system and we're going straight into the bloodstream.

We're bypassing the liver.

So we have to metabolize it without the liver.

And that can put a lot of strain on the kidneys and other organs.

For example,

Iron infusions,

And that's something that I speak a lot about at Vital Beta.

Iron infusions are really,

I've seen patients,

One of my patients had a stroke from an iron infusion and is still recovering and partly paralyzed.

I've seen people with side effects from iron infusions.

I've seen people who are feeling on top of the world from iron infusions.

Everyone's different,

But you are bypassing the digestive system and the liver.

So a lot to metabolize in a very high concentrate where we can't even absorb that much iron.

Anyway,

Point is,

Back to this,

Improving skin physiology.

That's the bottom line of it.

Is toxic sun lotion that mainly cause skin cancer?

It's hard to say,

Shiva,

What mainly causes skin cancer.

In Australia,

And I just posted this on Instagram,

On the Vital Beta's Instagram,

We just had a recall on sunscreens,

On sunscreens from Bondi Sun or Bondi whatever wash,

Which is apparently meant to be healthy,

From the Skin Cancer Council of Australia's brand of sunscreen.

They were all recalled in mainstream supermarkets because they obtained the carcinogenic chemical,

And I'm not great at pronouncing it.

Enza is the short name,

And of course,

I've been saying this for years,

And we're going to speak about sunscreens.

So the name is,

Yeah,

Anyway,

It's a common chemical which a lot of people speak about,

Which is the issue with sunscreen.

So we really want to,

We want to,

So with sunscreen and exposure to sun,

Practical.

Let's get practical before we get to questions.

Number one,

Go according to your skin type,

Your body type.

If you're very white,

Gradually introduce,

And wherever you are exposed to,

You get pink,

You don't want to get red.

Pink is beneficial once again,

Because we're absorbing our blood cells are coming to the surface to meet with the UV,

Saying,

Hey,

UV,

I want you.

You're my source of mitochondrial energy.

Once you get burnt,

That's too much.

Gradually increase work up to a tan.

Start away from the midday if you're living in hot climate.

Someone just said,

I stare at the sun for 30 seconds.

Well,

That's a whole other thing.

We're not going to speak about staring at the sun right now,

Because there are some things you need to know and dangers about that.

So if you live in Canada,

Vancouver,

Any of these snowy places,

And you need,

You can't get sun,

Sure,

Get red light therapy,

Buy the red lights,

Be with them.

But we really want to be with the sun.

No technology can mimic the sun.

As I've said,

The sun has a very sophisticated spectrum of light,

Which we really don't know.

All right,

I'm going to do a few practical things,

And then there's a lot of questions I'm going to ask them.

Someone just said sunlight and thyroid hormones.

This is absolutely huge,

Huge relationship.

I think a day if you heard me speak about photo endocrinology,

It's really,

Really important,

Especially for low thyroid,

Hypothyroidism,

Sun exposure in certain ways.

Check out my course on sleep on Insight Timer,

Because we speak about photo endocrinology.

We speak about the relationship between light and sleep,

Because photo endocrinology,

Photo light endocrinology,

Hormones,

And all the hormones are connected like a web.

Thyroid hormones,

Sleep hormones,

Adrenal hormones,

Stress hormones,

They're all connected,

And light is such a big thing,

And that will definitely touch on thyroid.

And I may even have some things on Insight Timer about more light and hormones.

So practical,

I want to be practical right now.

Moving forward,

Get more sun,

Gradually increase.

Now,

What do you live if you live in seldom sunny,

Or if it's very sunny,

Or you work in the sun?

Hey,

Guys,

It's called shade and hats and clothes,

Okay?

Don't use sunscreens,

Even the natural sunscreens.

The problem with natural is they're blocking UV.

As I said earlier,

When you start blocking something,

You get an altered spectrum hitting your skin that causes issues.

We want a holistic full spectrum hitting our skin.

If you're going to use sunscreen,

Use something that shimmers and does not absorb into the body.

When it absorbs,

It causes free radical damage,

And this is some of the cancer stuff which is being recalled.

Coconut oil is a great thing to apply to your body.

Now,

You want to learn the biggest tip I can give you today,

One of the best tips in general,

Not just today,

But in general,

To improve your skin physiology,

Which is going to prevent skin cancer.

It's going to allow you to metabolize the sun well.

That is a Ayurvedic practice called self-abhyanga,

Self-oil massage.

You can write it down,

Self-abhyanga,

A-B-H-Y-A-N-G-A.

If anyone here knows self-abhyanga,

You can type it in the chat so that people see the spelling.

Self-abhyanga is a practice in Ayurveda.

We have daily routine.

It's really important.

Every day,

You got to perform a routine.

That includes showering,

Meditating,

Waking up,

Brushing your teeth,

Scraping your tongue,

So many things.

Now,

One of the daily routines in Ayurveda is called snan.

It means bathing.

Every day,

We wash ourselves.

Great.

Most people on here on Insight Timer,

On this chat,

128 people on live,

I'm sure you all bathe every day,

Hopefully.

That's great.

You've got one daily routine in Ayurveda done,

But not only bathing,

In addition to bathing,

In addition to washing your body.

Every day in Ayurveda,

It is said to oil yourself.

Put oil in your body and give yourself a massage.

Every day,

Just like you bathe,

Before washing,

You also got to lubricate the body,

Feed the microbes on our skin.

We have the same amount of beneficial bacteria living on our skin and in our gut.

We have to move the lymph.

We have to move the blood.

We have to cleanse the skin.

So many benefits.

That is absolutely crucial to improving skin physiology,

And I don't have to say why.

So,

On Insight Timer,

I have a guide,

Self-Abyanga.

It's a premium track.

You can listen to me speak.

I've been asked for years to make a video,

But audio is much better because you don't have to look at something.

You do the Self-Abyanga yourself.

You learn it.

You learn it,

And then after that,

You make your own.

You have your own Self-Abyanga,

Which you can do before shower.

It can be short.

It can be long.

We talk about the short version.

We talk about the long version.

Always oil before washing because oil is lipophilic.

It pulls toxins out,

And then we want to wash it after.

So that's why it's before the shower.

And a lot more information about Self-Abyanga on that Insight Timer track,

Including what oils to use as the oils depend on the person and the season.

So,

Again,

Sunscreen.

Stay away from it.

Generally,

The higher SPF,

The more toxic.

Again,

All these mainstream,

Not only mainstream,

But a bunch of sunscreens just got recalled.

I saw it yesterday on the news in Australia.

Someone sent it to me,

The news report.

I don't watch the news.

So,

Really,

How else to improve your skin tolerance?

Again,

Really favor the sunrises,

The sunset.

In Ayurveda,

It's especially said that sunset light,

So it depends where you live.

If it's in Canada,

Definitely go for the midday or the 2 p.

M.

If it's in Australia in the summer,

Maybe 6,

5 p.

M.

,

4 p.

M.

If you're new to it,

Maybe 7 p.

M.

Even.

You want to,

Again,

It depends on you,

But late afternoon sun is really beneficial according to Ayurveda.

It basically says that it increases lifespan.

The morning sun can be more strong.

So,

Hope that this is good,

Guys.

Of course,

Diet plays a big role in this.

Another thing which plays a big role,

I'm not going to speak a lot about,

Is electromagnetic radiation because having Wi-Fi devices near you will reduce,

It causes something called calcium efflux,

Which is leaking of calcium ions,

Which can react with the.

.

.

It means your membranes will become malfunctioned,

And that is another weakness in the skin.

It will weaken not only the skin,

But internally because the skin is really the gateway to all our organs,

And the sense of touch is the king of the senses,

So the skin is really just covering everything.

Vitamin D,

Like,

Yeah,

Get it from the sun.

It's mainly from the sun.

Environmental pollutants are also,

In fact,

Good for skin physiology.

For skin cancer,

Also,

In melanoma,

It comes down to impaired skin physiology and impaired immune system and intelligence.

The body has an intelligence.

When cancer is proliferating,

The body's lost its intelligence because the intelligence should be,

Okay,

Everyone has cancer cells.

Right now in this call,

We have 132 meditators,

Me including,

We all have cancer cells,

But For me,

For example,

And for probably most people here,

The cancer cells die.

That's naturally what happens,

And then the white stem cell takes over,

So it's called apoptosis,

Autophagy,

Means cell suicide.

Cells should be dying and rebirthing,

Right?

But with cancer disease,

It's not dying.

It keeps growing,

And it proliferates,

And it feels isolated.

The cancer cell is like,

Why is everything attacking me?

This person is stressed all the time.

I need to be stressed.

I need to multiply.

So like that,

This is a malfunction in the intelligence of the body.

There's some mistake of intelligence.

So factors like increasing intelligence of the body on the cellular level,

Increasing your immune system,

Increasing skin physiology,

That's what's going to prevent melanomas.

All right,

Question time.

Hope this is it.

Let me just check my notes,

What I wanted to say.

So yes,

On the Vital Veda podcast,

It's coming up with another sun lover and sun scientist,

Nadine Artemis.

It's on the Vital Veda podcast soon.

Check out my Insight Timer live on sleep,

The course.

We talk about melatonin.

We talk about light.

We talk about photoendocrinology.

It's 11 lessons every day.

I give you a ritual for sleep or a nugget of wisdom,

And at the end of the course,

You can choose what you take.

But really,

With sleep,

You should be going to sleep within one to two minutes.

Falling asleep,

You should not be waking up once in the night,

Not even to urinate.

Even when you wake up in the morning,

You should want to get out of bed with enthusiasm.

That's the definition of proper sleep,

Which is one of the definitions of proper health in Ayurveda.

And of course,

Self-help yoga,

The oil massage track on Insight Timer,

Learn that.

Let me know what you think.

We're going to share this recording probably on Insight Timer if you want to share it,

If you want to listen to it again from the beginning,

A bunch of other stuff on Insight Timer and Vital Veda across all things.

And any questions on Insight Timer,

At any time,

Just leave a review,

Leave a comment on the tracks and the courses,

I'll respond.

Okay,

Questions.

We spoke about cholesterol.

Okay,

We're going to have to really refine the questions and keep them on the topic because there's a lot of stuff.

But yes,

Eggs,

Again,

They can be good,

Yes,

But they also can be bad.

It depends on the person.

It depends on the eggs.

Okay,

Can I use tallow instead of coconut oil?

Every oil has different things.

You see the Self Abhyanga website for the different oils,

Again,

Deshakala Patra,

Depends on where you live,

Depends on your person.

In general,

In Ayurveda,

We recommend sesame and coconut oil because those have the ability to penetrate the layers of the skin,

All the skin layers and even into the bones,

Especially when you have a medicated oil.

That really allows the Abhyanga to do better.

All right,

Okay,

With red light exposure,

What kind of red light bulb is best?

That's a great question.

Really consider changing the lights in your house.

You can even paint your light globes red and orange.

I did an Instagram reel on that,

It went pretty awesome and some people were doing it.

If you guys want to try paint your light globes red or orange,

Especially like lamps,

Do it and tag us on Instagram,

Motivator,

We would love to see and share it.

It's so fun and it really works.

There's companies who are conscious of blue light and they're selling light bulbs,

30 bucks a light bulb.

You can just paint it.

All right,

Is infrared energy creating the same effect?

Infrared energy is really important.

We really want that infrared.

We want the spectrum of light hitting us and there's different frequencies.

Remember,

All frequencies have different effect and it all has different effect on the skin pigmentation and yes,

So,

All right,

Questions,

Questions,

One is fair,

The medical history is true,

Who wrote it,

Tested it,

Well in the middle,

Okay.

So yeah,

If you guys like,

I'm not going to scroll up too much to the questions but if you guys want to ask questions,

You can drop them below.

Are red light devices okay to use on skin?

Yeah,

You can use them for sure,

Yes.

You just want to make sure that the red light devices don't have electromagnetic fields in high amounts and ideally,

We want full spectrum of light.

But if you are,

There's so many people here living in Canada and in the US,

You really have a responsibility to whenever it is sunny to go outside and get it especially and I'm not even just talking winter like for example,

I visited Iceland in the summer and even there's a city in Australia called Melbourne which is like it rains and it shines then it cloud like you have to work outside like if you're working from home,

So many people working from home these days post COVID,

Like do it outside,

Maximum skin exposure especially the back,

That's your biggest solar panel,

Your thighs,

Your butt cheeks,

These are places you really want to get some exposure,

Do not be afraid,

Get maximum skin and whenever you can,

Protect from the wind when it's a cold place,

So many people here in cold places even in the summer,

Protect from the wind,

That's really ideal if you can find a place which is protected from the wind then it can be hot and sweating but if you stepped into the wind,

You would be pretty cold,

You want to go inside.

So for those who are living in Norway,

England,

Canada,

All these places,

Whenever it's sunny,

Please take the opportunity,

Please do self-hypnosis every day so that you can optimize your metabolism of vitamin D from the sun because again,

We want to get that photo energy,

That photo prana from the sun.

Do those blue light glasses aid when using computer devices?

Absolutely they aid,

Blue light blocking glasses I think is one of the most important appliances to live in this modern century.

So yes,

Instead of painting all your light globes,

Changing your light globes,

You can just wear blue light blocking glasses,

That's the easiest solution because it just takes care of everything for your eyes but not for your skin and again,

Yes,

It's not so such a thing to expose your skin to blue light but it definitely helps.

Alright,

Any other questions before we wrap up on any of the things we've spoken about but yeah,

Like on the topic of cholesterol and eggs,

Like again,

What's the eggs,

What's the fat?

Alright.

Dylan,

I don't get it.

All I've heard from Booty Culture is sunscreen help fights.

Again,

Geraldine,

Like we've just had a massive recall in Australia of sunscreens.

Sunscreens do not,

This is the thing I said in the beginning,

It's a huge misconception without the sun causes skin cancer,

The sun is the giver of life and guys,

To go on this,

To bring it to the spiritual which is so important and to bring it to the mental aspect,

Start seeing the sun as a divine healer,

It is a divine healer,

It's a sentient being,

It's the giver of life,

It unconditionally loves,

You know,

The sun shines up,

Shows up every day,

Never late,

Always on time,

Doesn't care if you kill the cattle,

If you chop down the trees of this earth that it gives to,

It will show up every day,

Give you energy,

Give your solar panels energy,

Dry out the mold in your rainy house,

It shows up unconditionally,

It is the embodiment of love in which Ayurveda we call sattva,

Unconditional loving,

It is the chariot which leads the senses,

Sun is ego but also sun is the self in Vedic Astrology.

So see the sun in this way and yes,

Someone asked about oil,

How to interact with oil and showering,

That's all on the Self-Help Younger course,

Please learn.

If you enjoy this live,

I'd really appreciate it if you leave a donation,

So go ahead and leave one and this is like reciprocal energy,

Right?

And that's the thing,

Like sun,

The sun is showing up every day,

We need to reciprocate that energy.

Like I have one friend who is a pale redhead and when I started hanging out with her and I exposed myself to the sun and honored the sun,

That simple shift of like,

Okay,

Wow,

Actually the sun is not such an evil carcinogenic being,

Entity.

So just that shift and giving back,

Acknowledging,

Whether it's at sunrise,

Acknowledging for the light and love it gives and the energy.

So that reciprocal energy is really important and like on Insight Timer,

This is why I love Insight Timer,

It's a platform for just consciousness,

Like I'm moving away from Instagram to places like this because I see it as like filtered from all the crap and just for consciousness.

So if you want to leave a donation,

Please,

It really helps,

Just really the reciprocal energy is what helps me to continue on Insight Timer.

We're starting to put our energy towards that and please follow me on Insight Timer and we're going to be doing more talks,

Suggestion talks on Insight Timer,

We can,

You know,

People asking about thyroid,

Like we can do talks on many things,

A lot of courses coming out.

I'm going to do a course on the sun with more specific practices to come up,

That'll be coming soon.

Someone offers her food after cooking,

Like beautiful to the sun and all the divine energies around her.

It's so beautiful,

Especially in cold winters,

It exactly,

It can ignite that fire within you.

So,

So many subtle and energetic ways to increase sun energy and interact with sun energy and utilize it and bring it,

So really,

Really good opportunities and it starts with,

It's all layers,

Right?

We want to interact on the superficial,

On the physical,

We want to interact on the celestial,

On the subtle.

So this is really good start point with all these things and there's certain mantras,

There's certain sounds to enhance sun energy,

There's certain practices of offering things and water and various things.

So red light devices,

Like on vitalveda.

Com.

Au,

There's a thing Friends of Vital Veda and that's like we recommend like water filters and red light therapies and blue light blocking glasses and all this type of stuff that helps.

Okay guys,

Thank you so much,

I really appreciate it.

Once again,

Please leave a donation if you appreciated this call and in a personal way,

I want to say thank you to each and every one of you and not just like you're another person on this 140 people call.

I really honor everyone and your unique relationship with the sun and where that's going to increase and begin and I honor your unique interaction with health and where you are right now and maybe you have had someone suffer from skin cancer,

Probably many people on this call have and I see a lot of patients with skin cancers and again,

It really comes down to this improved skin physiology.

There's not one cause for any disease,

There's many contributing factors and there's also many contributing factors that we can prevent disease and heal.

In general,

My big approach and everybody's approach is to shift away from focusing on disease,

From analyzing disease,

From trying to analyze and work out and research what is wrong with us but rather,

We should focus on our health and put our awareness on our health and the positive things and let that enliven because the more we think of the disease,

We're going to invite that but the more we focus health,

We're going to increase health.

So thank you all,

You can see my profile on Insight Timer for people who've asked for websites and things so,

Jai Surya as we say in the Vedas which means glory to the king son,

Jai Surya.

See you next time.
