Vision boards are powerful tools for manifesting your dreams. They're vibrant collages of images, words, and quotes that ignite your motivation and keep you focused on your goals. In this talk, we explore what vision boards are, why they work, and how you can create your own to supercharge your success. Hello and welcome beautiful Insight Timer community.

This is Violet and today we're going to talk about vision boards.

What are they?

What do they do for us?

And why might you want to do one?

So a vision board is a visual representation of your goals,

Your dreams,

Your aspirations.

Basically it's a collage.

It can be a poster-sized one.

You can fill it with images,

Words,

Phrases,

Anything that inspires and motivates you to achieve something that you desire.

And it doesn't necessarily have to be on a poster board.

You can do this on a computer,

You can do it on a phone,

You can do it anywhere you like.

Maybe you're artistic and you like to draw pictures or you like to take pictures.

The beautiful thing about technology and one of the things that I love the most is the availability of apps out there now that can help you to create vision boards and pretty much anything that you want to create.

And like I said this can be done online,

It can be done on a physical piece of paper,

Or it could be as simple as cutting out pictures and pasting them somewhere.

Maybe you've got a bulletin board in your house or on your fridge and you want to stick a couple of pictures there.

So basically you don't need to get too complicated creating the vision boards.

Start with what works for you.

Start in a sketchbook or a pad or get yourself a big poster board.

Get a bunch of magazines together,

Get a bunch of quotes together,

And get to work.

And like I said you can use anything that you print from the internet,

You can use your own drawings,

You can cut out pictures from magazines.

As for your words,

Your affirmations,

Your quotes,

I know a lot of us have quotes that we love,

We have authors that we read often,

Personal mantras that we've created or have borrowed from other people.

These can all be added to your vision board.

These will help you clarify your goals and keep you motivated.

And some people even like using symbols.

Maybe they have personal meanings for you,

Maybe there's a bird or a flower,

A four-leaf clover,

Or a phoenix rising.

Something that helps you remember your challenges,

That helps you remember you can rise above them.

So what are the benefits of using a vision board?

They help you to create clarity.

I love the quote,

Where focus goes,

Energy flows.

And how true is that?

If I'm surrounded by beautiful scenery,

I know I feel a lot better than if it's a dull and dreary day and I'm stuck somewhere that I don't want to be.

My energy is completely different when I'm surrounded by something beautiful.

So you don't have to be on an island,

You can create your own.

You can put beautiful pictures around you and beautiful colors and these things will help you achieve your clarity,

It'll help you focus on your goals.

And also the quotes,

You know,

I know a lot of people think,

Oh positive thinking,

What is that?

You know,

Is it too much?

Is it woo-woo?

For me,

Positive thinking just helps me to stay focused on what I want.

Why would I want to focus on negative thinking?

And action planning with a vision board,

That is a great way to plan.

Maybe I want to exercise more,

So I'm going to throw a picture there of me looking healthy and fit and walking in nature,

Doing something that I love.

Whatever that is,

You know,

Maybe you're dancing,

You love dancing.

Just take a small step.

Maybe today you want to write down one thing you want to manifest this year.

Does it have to do with your weight,

Your family relationships,

Exercising,

Socializing?

Find one image that represents this idea for you and place it on your bathroom mirror or put it on your fridge,

Someplace that you're looking at every day.

What do family relationships look like for you when they're happy?

Is there a picture of your family during better times,

Maybe Thanksgiving,

Surrounded at the table with family?

Take that picture out and put it somewhere.

Or do you want to focus on your weight?

Were you at a better weight?

Were you not at a better weight?

There was a time in my life when I was very focused on my weight loss goals and I actually took a picture of myself,

Put my head on another body and I looked at that all the time and you know what?

It made me happy and it kept me focused.

It kept me motivated.

Alongside of that picture,

I did a lot of journaling.

I wrote down how I was going to feel when I was at that weight and I wasn't looking to be an ideal weight.

I was looking to feel more comfortable in my own body and just writing things down and reading those positive quotes,

It really helped me.

It helped keep me on track.

It helped keep me focused.

I also had pictures of myself with my small children.

That was a huge help because my goal at the time was to be a healthy mom and set a good example and to live to see my kids grow up and have families of their own and I'm happy to say that has obviously happened.

I have two amazing sons.

One is 25 and one is 28 and my grandbaby who is a year old.

So at the time,

I was very overweight and very afraid that I was not going to be around to see my kids grow up and having that vision and that focus helped me tremendously.

I managed to lose 80 pounds and that is a lot of weight to lose and it was something I didn't think I could do but I did it and I know that with vision boards and positive thinking and positive affirmations,

I know that helped make my goals that much better to focus and to make come true and manifest and I know that you can do it too.

They say that manifesting anything you want out of life starts with one simple step,

Knowing what you want but I'll be honest,

I haven't always known what I wanted.

I admire people who do.

There are people out there who know what they want and write it down and they make it happen and sometimes what you want can change and that's okay too.

There are no hard fast rules.

Do what works for you.

If you have an idea and you want to visualize your goals and you want to map those steps to get there,

That's great.

If you don't,

Think about it for a little while.

Meditate.

Ground yourself.

Try to get a picture in your head.

Maybe find mentors that can help you focus your energy.

I find vision boards are a great physical reminder.

It's something for me to look at daily,

Something to go back to next year so I can see how far I've come and how much I've accomplished.

I attended a vision board workshop in 2018 and I went back to see what I had written on there and to see what I had accomplished and I was really impressed at how much I had actually managed to do.

I hadn't thought about this until recently and I thought,

Oh look,

Let me see what I wrote down here.

One of the things,

One of the questions I had been asked was to list three habits that I knew I needed to begin and I wrote down start daily exercise,

Meditate,

Eat less sugar,

Less processed food.

Well,

I'm happy to say that without realizing it,

I've actually done those things.

I exercise every day now.

I have a recumbent bike by my bed.

I get up in the morning.

I do it even if it's 5,

10,

15 minutes.

Whatever amount of time I have,

I do it.

I listen to insight timer meditations before I get out of bed.

I journal before I get out of bed and I am definitely eating a lot less sugar and processed food.

I'm not gonna say I'm perfect and I,

You know,

Can't say that I haven't had my moments and still have my moments where I enjoy my sweets.

But you know what?

I've come a long way and I'm really proud of that.

And some of the other things I had written here,

Actually my last thing that I'm gonna mention that I loved,

One of the questions they asked us was to complete this sentence.

If I'm being honest,

I believe my purpose on this planet is and I had to fill in the blank.

I wrote my purpose on this planet is to help other people realize that the world is a beautiful place,

That you can have pain and still have gratitude,

And that the only way to move forward is to let go of the past and focus on having the better life you deserve.

I had completely forgotten until I read that today that I had written that and I thought,

Wow,

How many years ago was that and how true is it that I have been doing this?

I have a full-time job that I love,

But on the side,

I enjoy everything that I do on Insight Timer and I enjoy helping other people see that,

Yes,

There's pain in the world,

But this world is still a beautiful place and there is so much hope and so much healing that we can still have and I'm still on that journey myself and I love having others join with me and I love the idea of us being able to put this into a healing vision board and being able to make these things come true.

And of course,

As a side note,

You know,

We all have problems and sometimes we can get overwhelmed by them.

It's okay to reach out for help,

Whether it be a good friend,

A therapist,

A transformational coach,

Writing in a journal,

Whatever it takes to help you navigate these feelings.

Use what works for you and always feel free to reach out.

And as everyone knows,

I do love oracle cards and I do love quotes and there's a quote by Mary Oliver that I love.

It's someone I loved once gave me a box full of darkness.

It took me years to understand that this too was a gift.

That quote comes from her poem,

One of her beautiful poems,

And it highlights the opportunity for hope that exists in pain and in turmoil.

And I love that quote and it's definitely going on my new vision board because it reminds me that there have been times in my life when I've experienced things that were very painful.

Maybe I was deeply hurt by someone I cared for or saddened by a relationship that ended or some other kind of loss.

And at times like that,

Pain can be so paralyzing.

It feels like you can't move on.

But in retrospect,

I've moved on,

I've grown,

I've learned,

And I've come so far that it has helped me see that yes,

We can move on,

We can survive,

We can come out even stronger than before.

And sometimes we can use our own pain and our own experience to heal not just ourselves but others as well.

So I want to read,

I pulled two oracle cards for us and I want to end this with,

First of all,

I got a card from the Healing Waters Oracle by Rebecca Campbell.

And the card I pulled was N-CAL and it stands for Healer,

Seer,

And Soul Purpose.

So I want to read what it says because I thought it was really beautiful.

It says the folklore of many different places including Iceland,

France,

Holland,

Albania,

England,

And Germany has tales about a rare event called N-CAL or veiled birth.

This occurs when the mother goes into labor but her waters fail to break and the baby appears in this world still inside the amniotic sac in which it gestated.

According to tradition,

Children born N-CAL have second sight and gifts of healing.

In Scotland,

These were seen as good omens.

This is the card of the healer,

The seer,

The wisdom keeper,

And the mystic.

Perhaps you're already on this path or perhaps it's something new for you.

The healer,

The shaman,

The medicine person knows that it's through facing their own shadow and taking their own deep healing journey they can return to guide others in their healing.

The healer is,

Like all of us,

In their own spiral of transformation and healing.

Healed isn't a stagnant state.

The healer knows they're not meant to be perfect and whole all the time.

Instead,

It's because they've journeyed to the deepest,

Darkest,

Uncharted ocean caves and returned with an open heart and mind that they're able to hold space for another.

And it ends with this question,

How can you answer the call of your soul in your fullest expression today?

Well,

My friends,

I think that's a great question to help us get started with the vision board.

And I have one more card that I pulled from the Healing Spirit Oracle by Gordon Smith.

And I got number 28,

Which happens to be my birth date.

So I was like,

That's kind of cool and symbolic.

And it says,

Success isn't what you have,

It's what you do with what you have.

How true is that?

And here's how they define it.

The first step is taken,

You have asked for help.

So many people don't know how to ask for help or have never even considered asking for assistance when they're feeling low.

But is that the easiest thing to do?

To simply say,

Please,

Can you help me?

Spirit healers and helpers will soon be in your energy and working to lift you up again.

Take a moment each day to feel their healing energy in life and allow yourself to be balanced and regenerated by their healing balm.

It is also important that you learn to give thanks when you do this practice.

If you ask from the heart,

It shall be given.

So my friends,

I will encourage you,

Start a vision board,

Ask for help,

Embark on this journey of healing,
