So to begin with,
You just want to find a way of lying comfortably or sitting.
For some people,
This kind of work is something to do while sitting,
And you find that if you do it that way,
That other times in the day you'll be sitting at your desk and feel yourself relaxing.
Lying down is also nice.
You just want to feel supported,
That we all.
And then the second place that we go to is just to acknowledge some aspects of our awareness.
One way to look at this is that there's a face of our awareness which goes out through the senses.
It's drawn into our experiencing,
Very much in what many call the present.
And there's another which faces more inwardly and connects with our imaginings and our rememberings.
And between these different directions,
There's really the awareness itself.
And it's possible to bring a little bit more attention just to the awareness and follow how it cycles,
Its tendencies,
Its inclinations.
Sometimes this is to do with some question we're trying to resolve within ourselves.
Sometimes it's just to do with how hot it is,
Or something to do with the way that we're carrying something from the day.
And in this moment of this work,
The real key is not to judge or to try to fix.
Just allow a moment of compassion for how the awareness serves us,
Taking us through our time.
Not to do anything with it.
And if one can come even just a tiny bit more into presence with these things,
It really is a significant shift to be a little bit there as a compassionate presence,
But also not swept into the content.
And then from this compassionate presence to ask or give permission,
Let part of our awareness be directed,
Perhaps in a longer and deeper way.
And in this case,
We'll take some part of our body,
Perhaps our hands,
And directing our awareness or part of it into what is our experience of being alive in our hands.
And there's a whole catalog of categories about what the hands experience,
The touch,
The energy,
Sometimes a sense of the pulsing of blood or the flow of the electricity of life.
We just want to be a little more consistent in this noticing,
Standing in the flow of time with this experience,
Perhaps for a little bit longer moment,
A little more deeply.
And in that longer,
Deeper experience,
To offer the suggestion or the permission to soften,
To relax.
This can be in the hands and fingers,
The palms.
It can even spread out through the wrists and even carry up the forearms and elbows.
Sense of softness,
Perhaps the weight,
Allowing things to sink.
And then we're going to allow that to be and bring our awareness down to our feet.
Similar checking in.
Again,
Perhaps a little bit leaning into the experience.
These remarkable parts of our body,
Which hold us throughout the day,
Connect us to the planet.
Just to be present with them.
And again,
To offer the option to soften,
To relax.
And if there's some impulse to explore a moving,
That's totally okay.
Perhaps there's a taking up space if relaxation comes through the ankles and the knees.
Even the hips,
One might notice that there's more space there.
It's even possible to breathe into that space.
And then lastly,
For tonight,
To bring part of our awareness up to the face and perhaps to begin with more specifically to the eyes.
Allow the muscles around the eyes to soften,
Acknowledging that the face is a remarkably complex structure,
And especially in terms of the awareness that we express so much out through the face and also at the same time the face,
And if you include the ears,
Take in so much.
And for this moment to neither strive to take in nor to express,
But just to allow this moment just to soften.
Perhaps to share some compassion for this part of ourselves that really allows us to bring our light into the world.
Again,
Allowing that relaxation,
Which may go down,
Extend around the head and the neck.
And perhaps between all these places,
Our hands and our feet and our face and our head,
Just to allow a softening of the ribs and the torso.
Just to follow a breath out like a wave receding.
And then very simply to allow that breath to fully come in.
And stay with that ever-changing cycle as long as feels natural,
And then just let it go.
