Hi friends,

Let's take a deep breath in and slowly let it go.

I'm so glad you're here.

Today I want to share something simple that has helped me slow down and quiet my mind and truly reconnect with God,

And that's the practice of prayer journaling.

So prayer journaling is not about writing perfectly or filling pages every day,

But it's about creating space to pause and reflect and speak honestly with God.

It can bring our hearts back to what really matters.

We know that we live in a world that moves so fast.

We juggle full schedules,

We have multiple roles and constant to-do lists,

And for many of us this busyness can start to feel like purpose.

Like the more we do,

The more we matter.

But after a while,

That kind of pace starts to catch up with us.

We begin to feel anxious,

Burned out,

And disconnected,

Even from the things that we care about most.

So I want to share something that I once wrote during a season when God was teaching me to slow down.

Slowing down sounds simple,

But for many of us it's one of the hardest things to do.

We live fast,

We juggle full schedules,

Multiple roles,

And constant to-do lists.

And if you're anything like me,

Staying busy can feel like a source of purpose or even comfort.

But over time,

That busyness can lead to anxiety,

Burnout,

And disconnection from the things that matter most.

When I stepped away from my full-time job to care for my children and pursue creative work,

I thought slowing down would come easily,

But instead I struggled.

I had been on autopilot for so long that stillness felt uncomfortable.

The open space revealed things I hadn't had time to process,

And yet in that quiet,

I could hear God more clearly.

Sometimes he whispers,

Sometimes he nudges,

And sometimes when we won't slow down on our own,

He'll do it for us.

Whether through illness,

Exhaustion,

Or an unexpected life shift,

He gently reminds us you weren't created to carry everything.

Make space for me.

And when I finally did,

Everything began to shift.

I made space for prayer,

For journaling,

And for rest.

I found myself reconnecting to what really matters,

Which is my faith,

My family,

And my peace.

Slowing down doesn't mean giving up on your responsibilities.

Instead,

It simply means being present in them.

It might look like savoring a quiet meal without your phone,

Taking a walk to feel the air on your skin,

Folding laundry with a grateful heart,

Simply letting God in during the ordinary.

These small moments of pause are invitations to return to yourself and to him.

Those words still remind me that slowing down isn't about doing less.

It's about letting God in more.

Prayer journaling became the way that I did that.

So when I sit down with a pen and paper,

I feel my thoughts begin to settle.

My worries start to take shape instead of spinning around in my head.

And this act of writing,

So actually putting words to what's in my heart,

Letting the words flow out onto the paper,

Becomes a kind of prayer all on its own.

Now some days I can write full prayers,

And other days I may just write a sentence.

Sometimes it's gratitude,

And sometimes it's even grief.

But in every season,

It becomes a record of God's faithfulness.

Because when we look back,

We can see the prayers we once whispered,

And the ways he quietly answered.

Friends,

Prayer journaling is really just an invitation,

To be honest.

It's where you can come as you are with all of your doubts,

Your dreams,

Your exhaustion,

And lay it all before God.

And when you do,

You'll begin to notice peace entering in even the most ordinary parts of your day.

So maybe today I challenge you,

Before you close your eyes tonight,

Take a few minutes to write one line to God.

It can be a prayer,

A question,

Or a simple thank you.

And know that it doesn't have to be perfect,

It just has to be true.

So let your words become a place of rest,

A reminder that you don't have to hold everything together,

Because he already does.

Take a deep breath in,

And slowly exhale.

And may you find stillness in the ordinary,

Peace in the pauses,

And comfort in the presence of God.

Amen.
