This is a practice of noticing and appreciating the good things God has placed in your life.
So often we focus on pain,
Struggle,
Or the next mountain to climb.
But as James 1 17 says,
Every good and perfect gift is from above.
So today let's pause to notice those gifts and give thanks.
Take a deep breath in and let it go.
Close your eyes or soften your gaze if that feels okay.
And just notice how do you feel in this moment?
What's holding you up right now?
Relax into that support,
Knowing God is your ultimate foundation.
Notice the air around you,
The weight of your clothing,
The way your body is being sustained by his grace even now.
Now shift your focus to your breath.
Each inhale a gift from God.
Each exhale a release of what you don't need to carry.
Feel your lungs fill with air,
Your body expand,
And gently release.
Now ask yourself,
Lord,
What brings me joy?
What brings me peace?
Invite the Holy Spirit to bring to my moments and things that feel good and that are life-giving.
Maybe it's solitude with God,
Quiet mornings with his word,
Or the sound of rain reminding you of his renewal.
Maybe it's laughter around a table with loved ones where joy overflows and phones are forgotten.
Maybe it's the simple things,
A walk with a friend,
Coffee,
And conversation,
A favorite recipe,
Or a night of rest.
Take note of what stirs your soul.
These are God's reminders that he delights in your delight.
Be specific,
Picture the details,
And let gratitude rise.
Now place one hand over your heart and repeat after me,
I am worthy of joy because God calls me his beloved.
I give myself permission to experience the good gifts he's placed in my life.
I am open to the endless ways God can refresh and restore my soul.
Repeat these once more,
Letting the truth sink in.
I am worthy of joy because God calls me his beloved.
I give myself permission to experience the good gifts he's placed in my life.
I give myself permission to experience the good gifts he's placed in my life.
I am open to the endless ways God can refresh and restore my soul.
Slowly bring your awareness back to the present.
Notice your breath.
Notice your body.
And carry the sense of gratitude and joy back into your day,
Knowing every moment of ease and goodness is a reflection of his love for you.
And when you're ready,
Gently open your eyes.
