Hello,
My name is Jacqueline and welcome to my meditation,
What is in your Backpack?
Are outdated beliefs holding you back from believing in yourself and achieving your goals and dreams?
Many of us realise this,
But struggle with changing our mindset,
Which has been the same for many years,
Sometimes from childhood.
During this meditation,
We will look at decluttering our lives in more ways than one.
So make yourself comfortable as we begin by relaxing the body.
Take a deep breath in.
And slowly breathe out.
And another breath in.
And slowly breathe out.
Your body is relaxing as you breathe in your own rhythm.
Bring your focus to your feet.
And allow them to relax.
Now focus on your legs.
And allow them to relax.
Turn your focus to your buttocks and belly.
And allow them to relax.
Now focus on your chest.
Notice how it moves with your gentle breaths.
Move your focus to your arms.
And allow them to relax.
Now focus on your hands.
And allow them to relax.
Finally,
Focus on your head,
Neck and shoulders.
And allow them to relax.
With your whole body relaxed,
Let's begin this meditation.
In your mind's eye,
You see yourself putting on an empty backpack.
You can feel the straps over your shoulders.
It feels light and comfy.
Now this is a magic backpack,
Which swallows everything up.
It doesn't matter how big something is.
Everything fits in it.
The only thing you will notice is the weight you are adding to the backpack.
Now in your mind's eye,
Let's take a walk around your home.
Go into every room and put your possessions into the backpack.
Let's start by going into your bedroom first and put all your furniture in there.
The bed,
Chair,
Pictures you have on the walls,
Your clothes,
Even that cuddly toy you have on the bed.
How's your backpack feeling?
Can you feel the straps pressing into your shoulders?
It's feeling quite weighty already.
Now let's go into your living room.
Put your couch,
Armchairs,
All the furniture,
Ornaments,
Books,
Everything into the backpack.
That's a lot of stuff in the backpack now.
It must be really weighing you down.
Right,
Let's go into your kitchen.
It's okay to leave some of these items out.
Just pack the things you really need into the backpack.
Now how's your back doing?
Are you coping with all this weight?
There's just one last thing to add.
Your vehicle.
Put that into your backpack.
Wow,
That's a lot of stuff you own.
All that stuff you've collected over time.
But does it all still make you happy,
Like it did the day you got it?
Before you collapse with this weight,
Slide the backpack to the ground.
Now I want you to take a couple of items out.
No more than,
Let's say,
Four.
Things that still make you feel happy and smile.
The rest of the things you are going to burn.
What will you save?
How do you feel knowing that everything else will be burnt?
Do you feel empowered or relieved?
Or do you feel scared or lost?
All the items in your backpack are representing your thoughts and the beliefs you have gathered over the many years you have been alive.
Like the items we have around us that we don't want to part with,
So we have beliefs that we hold on to.
Even though many of them are holding us back from achieving our dreams.
The weight of carrying these outdated beliefs is called worry.
What thoughts and beliefs are stopping you from manifesting your dreams or goals?
It may be words people have said to you which has knocked your self-confidence.
Where did these thoughts and beliefs come from?
They may be things your parents spoke about often,
Such as money doesn't grow on trees.
Do you still truly believe them deep down inside of you?
What do you now believe instead?
Now that you have experienced this realisation,
Do your dreams and goals seem more achievable?
Now that your beliefs match your feelings,
It's time to set about creating your best life,
Your way.
With your mind filled with renewed determination and the knowledge you can return to this meditation whenever you need a positive boost,
You feel inspired to realise your dreams.
With a happy heart,
It's time to bring this meditation to a close.
Take a deep breath in and wiggle your fingers and toes.
And as you breathe out,
Gently open your eyes.
Notice how you are feeling.
You should feel invigorated and motivated to achieve your goals,
Knowing that you are no longer tied to beliefs which don't serve you.
Remember,
The same way we can declutter our lives from physical things we no longer need,
We can also do the same with unnecessary thoughts and beliefs in our mind.
Thank you for meditating with me.
Before you go,
I would like to ask you a question.
What is your biggest realisation which has changed your way of thinking and in turn your life?
Let me know in the comments how this meditation has worked for you.
Enjoy the rest of your day.
Bye for now.
