Welcome to a meditation for self love.
What if you could truly and unconditionally love yourself,
Not just as a concept but a real embodied experience?
Many of the wisdom teachings throughout the ages have talked about self love,
Love thyself.
They say that we can't fully and completely love another without first knowing how to love ourselves.
And yet that's sometimes a little bit difficult.
We tend to be our harshest critic.
For most of us we've had some heartbreak along the way.
And fully embracing,
Appreciating,
Forgiving ourselves,
Again it's challenging.
For many of us it's easier to love someone else than it is to really love and appreciate ourselves just as we are.
We're going to take a little bit of a different path to get there,
One that is accessible to us all and might make it a little bit easier to truly love yourself unconditionally.
So let's get into a comfortable seat.
Let your shoulders relax.
You can close your eyes if you'd like and if you'd prefer to lie down for this one,
That's fine.
Take a long deep breath in.
Gently release your breath.
Just feel yourself soften.
Do that again if you'd like,
A long smooth inhale.
Just relaxing here and now as you exhale.
Just allow your body to breathe for you,
This body of yours that you might be unkind to at times.
Can you for a moment just love your body?
Love your body as it is because it's never going to be exactly like this again.
Alright,
Our body is constantly changing and evolving as we grow and age.
So even in this new moment,
This is literally a new body.
Cells die and renew,
New life comes in.
Every single moment.
And again,
It's sometimes difficult to love ourselves as we are but you've shown up for this meditation.
So this in and of itself is an act of self love.
You have the capacity,
The ability to love yourself in your fullness.
Unconditional love means there's nothing that could negate or diminish your love.
And yet things do all the time.
And we are our harshest critic.
So as you sit here and let your body breathe for you and appreciate perhaps the fact that you've taken this time for yourself to develop a little bit more self love and compassion and understanding and forgiveness and healing.
I want you to just scan back in time and space to when you were a very,
Very small child.
Ideally before the age of five before ego identification kicked in.
When you were just pure and innocent and loving.
If you've ever known a child or have a child,
You know that they don't think about the past or the future.
They're not judging themselves.
They're just pure love.
Innocent and pure.
And that's our birthright.
That's how we come into the world.
Imagine that you could look in the eyes of that own innocence,
Your inner child,
Very different body,
Very different shape,
Not hardened by life's experiences quite yet.
And just see that innocence and that purity within.
Can you love that inner child that exists within you?
For most of us,
It's easier to find love for ourselves when we're looking at ourselves from that perspective.
Whether you got so much love as a little one or so little,
You are deserving of love.
So as if you could reach back through time and space,
See if you can send that inner child within you,
The love that you've always deserved.
The love that is your birthright.
Can you forgive that inner child for any mistakes that he or she has made?
Can you find some compassion and support and tenderness for that inner child that exists within you?
It's part of you.
It is you.
Imagining that you could just reach out and embrace and support and offer so much love to your own inner child.
This might be difficult.
It might bring up emotions and that's okay.
Love is a multifaceted emotion.
But any emotions that surface,
Surface.
Accept them.
Accept yourself.
That inner child is often so playful,
So innocent.
They delight in the small things.
They're not restricted yet.
We probably still have much to learn about quantum physics and the time-space continuum.
So pretend that you could travel back in time and space and just embrace that inner child within you,
Giving them the support and love and nourishment and encouragement and forgiveness and tenderness and love that they are so deserving of.
And there's that thread through time and space energetically that's connecting you to your inner child right now.
So all of this unconditional love that you're sending them is filling you and just as you are in this moment.
Now bring your awareness to your own heart.
Imagine that you could feel your heart beating.
You can certainly feel your breath flowing.
Allow yourself to breathe in a feeling of love to this body,
To this time.
And imagine that that love that you fill with can also ripple out from you with your breath into the world around you.
And just allow your heart and your lungs to fill with that love as you breathe in and to ripple and send it out as you breathe out.
So when we can find true unconditional love for ourselves,
We need ourselves from a more compassionate,
Forgiving,
Accepting place.
And in that way we can also experience more compassion and forgiveness and tenderness and love for others,
Whether we agree with them or not,
Whether we know them or not.
At our essence,
At our core,
We are all really pure love.
Allow yourself to feel into that,
That pureness,
That essence,
That truth.
And that love that connects us all.
Every living sentient being on this planet,
Even the trees,
We exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide with the trees.
We breathe in their oxygen.
We breathe out carbon dioxide,
Which they then breathe in.
There's an exchange of energy continuously happening on this planet with our breath and with the love that we can fill with and feel and ripple out into the world.
They say that love is the creative force of the universe and it is our highest vibration.
Notice how it feels if you can tap into that loving space within you,
Using the technique of connecting back to your inner child anytime you like,
Supporting them,
Sending them love and tenderness and all the goodness that they deserve.
Let's just sit for a moment in silence,
Sort of steeping in that love that we've uncovered and discovered and filled up with that we're sharing with the world breath by breath.
Let's just sit for a moment in silence.
If you can,
Take another glance back deep into the eyes of your inner child.
They're your own eyes.
They're the same eyes that you see when you look at yourself in the mirror.
They're the same eyes that you use to see the world around you and other beings.
I'm just going to invite you to look through those eyes and see the love that's within each of us,
Just like you're seeing that love within yourself.
So that when you do encounter other people in real life or through the screen of your device these days,
Maybe you can see their inner child and that pureness and innocence that lives within them.
And in that way,
You can find more compassion and more forgiveness.
Isn't that really what namaste means?
What if you could see the world through loving eyes?
What if you could see yourself through loving eyes?
I think we'd all walk around happier,
More peaceful,
More forgiving and compassionate.
And even when we see a very elderly person with that sparkle in their eye,
That's their own inner child,
Right?
It's always with you.
No matter your age,
No matter your circumstances,
No matter your life events,
There's nothing that can diminish the love,
The unconditional love within your heart.
It is your birthright.
Take a long deep breath in,
Allow yourself to fill up with that feeling of love.
Let your breath go and just ripple it out.
One more time when you're ready,
A long deep breath in,
Fill with love.
Notice how it feels in your body.
And let your breath go,
Allow yourself to relax into it and know that with every breath you take,
You're exchanging love with the world around you.
Namaste.
I love you.
Thank you.
