So for today's practice we're going to do a breath called the complete yogic breath.
We're going to breathe into three parts of the body.
First the belly using that diaphragm muscle and then into the rib cage we're going to widen and expand and then letting the breath come up to the upper chest.
So it's going to be a three-part breath and it's a beautiful way to stretch your lung capacity,
To bring more oxygenation into your system,
To increase your CO2 tolerance which pushes more oxygen into the cells of your body and brings them that health and vitality that they want to function optimally.
So for the first round we'll take three cycles of just breathing into the low belly and then we'll move from low belly to rib cage for three cycles and then we'll do three cycles low belly,
Rib cage and chest.
So if your breath pace is different than mine I just want to lay out the foundation for you and then we'll let it free flow.
So as always let's sit up nice and tall.
Feel free to close the eyes if they haven't already closed and just take a free breath or two before we begin.
So here we go all through the nose just the low belly.
Inhale let the belly widen in all directions exhale as it draws back in keeping the chest very still.
Inhale just into the belly.
You can place a hand on your belly and chest if you'd like and exhale the belly draws back inhale widening the lowest part of the torso exhale feel it draw back and now we'll take it from belly to rib cage.
So inhale belly filling widening expanding and then rib cage widening and expanding.
And as you exhale the ribs draw back inward and then the belly draws back in.
So inhale first the belly fills and then the ribs widen and exhale ribs draw inward they actually move with your breath and navel gently draws back and once more like that inhale belly and then ribs exhale emptying from the ribs and then the navel pulls in and now all three.
Inhale belly ribs and let the chest rise and expand.
Exhale chest softens ribs draw in and navel draws back beautiful.
Again inhale belly ribs chest up to the collarbones exhale chest softens ribs draw in and navel draws back.
One more time inhale belly ribs feel it in the back of the ribs as well chest exhale chest ribs and belly.
We're going to do the full cycle three more times.
Inhale belly exhale belly ribs widen even into the back body chest even into the back of the heart exhale chest softens ribs draw back in and navel pulls back continue on your own and when you finish this last cycle now let it just be in one fluid motion.
Inhaling from bottom to top and exhaling from top to bottom inhaling from bottom to top up to the crown of the head if you'd like and exhale from top to bottom.
You can imagine breathing from the earth up the spine past the top of the head and exhaling downward all the breath emptying back into the earth and just like this we move energy continue on your own breathing in up the body and out back down the body rooting and grounding as you empty and there's almost a lifting up sensation on the in-breath and a settling back downward and inward on the out-breath and then if you want to take this into a more advanced form of the practice feel free to think about breathing up the front side of the body like there's a big circle around you and down the back side of the body all the way from the core of the earth up maybe three to five feet above you in a big orb or sphere of light and back down into the earth because really they say that our physical body is just our physical body but our astral and energetic bodies really do encompass a big area around us our aura so you can feel if you'd like like you're filling up all these different aspects of you not just your physical body so continuing on your own playing with any aspects of this that resonate for you and then just take two more cycles of breath breathing up the body up your energy field and down and then last time and then keeping your eyes closed take an easy free breath just let it go anywhere it wants to and let go notice how your body returns to taking over your breath notice how that shift feels where your breath wants to be what you're noticing it might become much smaller notice any shift in your energy you've brought a lot of energy into your system here sometimes there's some subtle or even not so subtle sensations that you can pick up on when you do that just be right here for a moment or two longer because we opened up our energy systems and brought in more oxygen and filled our lungs more completely and yet still stayed very relaxed and grounded and settled there's a buzz that can happen and this is a great practice if ever you want to do something creative if you want to be really focused and clear because you're relaxed yet a little bit more in touch and alive i hope you enjoyed that one feel free to open your eyes at any time and just come back into your space thank you so much namaste
