Dear friends,
Countless billions of years ago,
The dust of exploding stars began to coalesce and planets were formed around our sun.
For millions of years this beautiful planet of ours was a ball of fire,
Finally,
Finally it cooled down and became something like the planet we see today.
As a result of processes which we still fail to understand,
Primitive life of sorts evolved in the sea and on the earth.
The slow process of evolution and change continued over countless ages and finally the ancestors of humanity appeared.
Then one day in the 20th or 21st century an amazing thing happened,
You were conceived.
I have always been astonished at the thought of the countless events which had to fall into alignment for the miracle that is you or I to come into being.
Our parents had to meet and be attracted to each other,
Their parents before them,
Their parents before them and so on,
Again and again,
Right back to the point where primitive life emerged on planet earth.
This was miracle enough,
But when we consider the interconnectedness of all things,
Something even more astounding comes to be noticed.
For you and I to come into being,
All the forces of the universe had to fall into place and align,
And extraordinarily they did.
We may be rich,
We may be poor,
Our circumstances might be good or the opposite,
We might have good health or bad,
But today,
Right here and right now,
We exist.
This is an extraordinary fact,
So ordinary that as a rule we fail to even notice it.
But when we finally stop the running,
When we take a breath and come to a place of attention,
The realisation dawns,
That our profound gratitude should accompany every breath we take in this extraordinary life.
That realisation gives rise to gratitude,
And an attitude of gratitude is life-changing.
Against all the odds,
You are here.
Against all the odds,
You are here.
Namaste.
