I Arise Today - A Morning Prayer

Dear friends, A morning prayer. I arise today through the life-giving power of the universe, And I give thanks. I arise today and feel the pulse of life within me. I arise today and take in a breath of life-giving air that is shared by all on the planet. I arise today held fast to planet Earth by the unseen force of gravity. I arise today and I give thanks. I arise today to feel the warmth of the sun and the coolness of wind. I arise today and enjoy the refreshment of water. I arise today and I give thanks. I arise today in a world made new by the morning light. I arise today in a world of potentiality. I arise today to the possibility of new beginnings. I arise today and I give thanks. I give thanks for my life, A gift inexplicable, A gift beyond measure, A gift against all the odds. I give thanks for the people around me, For family, For friends, For acquaintances, And for all the people I come across in the course of my days. I give thanks for my possessions, However humble, For the roof over my head, For a bed in which to lie down, For the security of home, And for everything and everyone that makes this possible. I give thanks for the benefits of civilisation, For people who provide public services, Water, Power, Communications, For doctors and nurses and healthcare people, People in the fire and rescue services, For all the people working to support the life I enjoy. I give thanks for the gift of awareness, For my guides and mentors, For the inspirational people in my life, For everyone who has encouraged me to explore the meaning of this existence. I give thanks for this new day, In which to notice and to give thanks. I arise today through the life-giving power of the universe, And I give thanks. Namaste.
