Metta Meditation (also known as Loving Kindness) increases positive emotions, curbs self criticism, and has an immediate calming effect. It is a mantra meditation that repeats a few simple phrases and evokes kindness towards ourselves and others. This specific meditation is directed towards developing kindness and warmth to yourself. Some of the benefits of Metta are: - Increases empaty, feelings of social connection, emotional regulation, and positive emotions. - Decreases chronic pain, negative emotions, and bias towards others. - Effective at reducing self criticism, depressive symptoms, and improving self compassion. - Effective in small doses (10 minutes or less).
