We need to find ways of restoring a sense of safety in feeling deep emotions when we have been traumatized or stuck in fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. This guided imagery uses rhythmic breathing to bring your nervous system into a state of polyvagal regulation, creating enough safety to turn toward whatever you're feeling instead of away from it. From there, guided imagery helps you process and embrace your emotions rather than suppress them. This practice is part of Relational Trauma Repair (RTR), Dr. Tian Dayton's polyvagal and trauma-informed embodied healing model for meeting feeling with acceptance.
