There are four questions that,
When asked daily,
Could completely shift the trajectory of your life.
But first,
A little background about these questions.
I truly believe that we all want to be successful at our goals,
But most of us set these goals on day one of the year and forget to visit them again until day 365 the year.
In a perfect world,
Resolutions seem to be a good idea,
But in a practical world,
They simply fail.
Let's face it,
Life is messy and perfection is an illusion,
A big fat lie that we've been brainwashed to believe since we were too young to ever question it.
Chasing the perfect XYZ leads to frustration,
Disappointment,
And suffering.
So if not perfection,
Then what are we really after?
I think what we're really after is growth.
In my long journey away from perfection,
I've learned to adopt the messy,
Which means admitting to myself and others that I've made a mistake or things didn't go according to plan.
Embracing this approach to life has been incredibly challenging.
I've had days where I was paralyzed with anxiety,
Days where I wanted to crawl into a hole,
And days where I felt deep shame and embarrassment.
So you might be wondering,
Why do it?
Well,
I'm still here.
Those feelings were super uncomfortable,
But the truth is they didn't kill me.
In fact,
They made me stronger.
In times of incredible discomfort comes incredible growth.
I've made it a point to put myself in a lot of uncomfortable situations over the years.
One such situation was when I climbed and summited Mount Kilimanjaro.
Although I've always considered myself an endurance athlete from years of running,
I'd never done anything like climb a mountain,
Let alone one that was nearly 20,
000 feet high.
I'm prone to anxiety and panic attacks,
And being away from sea level is a trigger.
I had a choice not to do it at all or face my fear.
I chose the latter.
Did I have a panic attack?
Yes.
But was I able to manage it?
Yes.
Growth requires taking a long honest look at the role you play in creating the life you are living.
In good times,
This can give you a nice ego boost and feel amazing.
It lets you know you're on the right track.
In difficult times,
This can feel painful and depressing.
But either way,
You will grow.
You will learn how you create both of those experiences,
What you could do differently,
And what you are most grateful for.
At the end of the day,
You are responsible for your growth.
To stay true to my growth game,
I've started asking myself four questions every night before I go to sleep.
I limit myself to five minutes to do this exercise.
The purpose of this is not to analyze and judge yourself,
But rather to let intuition guide you to the answers that will unlock hidden potential.
Once the five minutes are complete,
You can take another five to ten minutes to journal about these questions,
Again without judgment and analyzing.
So what are these four questions to ask yourself daily?
One,
What went well today?
Really take inventory of your day.
Imagine some of the scenarios that played out and what went well.
You may have to take some time to find those moments because our minds are so prone to looking for the negative.
Two,
What didn't go so well?
This may be a little easier to do than number one because again our minds are really good at finding the things that didn't go so well.
Three,
What could I have done differently?
This is where the magic is.
You get to visualize your day again and figure out what you could have done differently in those moments that didn't go so well.
Imagine that different scenario playing out without again analyzing or focusing so much on the outcome,
But just how you could have showed up differently.
And four,
What am I grateful for?
Visualize this experience regardless of how small or large and allow the sensations of gratitude to wash over you.
So again those four questions are one,
What went well today?
Two,
What didn't go so well?
Three,
What could I have done differently?
Four,
What am I grateful for?
You can choose to incorporate these questions however you like and apply them to specific situations or broadly to your entire day.
They are yours to play with.
Take time every day to reflect on how you are creating your life.
Before you know it,
You will be manifesting your deepest desires.
Don't take my word for it.
Try it out for yourself and report back.
Thank you for being here to share your practice and your energy with me today.
With gratitude,
Peace,
And love.
Namaste.
