Welcome to this Lectio Divina on the second part of Psalm 109.
Taking a deeper breath,
Letting that breath bring you into your body.
And letting your body soften and sink into stillness,
Into being held.
Letting yourself arrive into this moment.
Gathering in from the day and being here.
You are very,
Very welcome.
This first reading will be all of the second part of Psalm 109.
And then there will be two more readings focusing in on just a few verses.
Part 2 of Psalm 109 Then will I be strong to face my fears With a love that is firm and sure.
For you,
O heart of all hearts,
Are the thread that connects each one of us.
That defines the interconnectedness of all being.
Though I am weak and yet have miles to go,
Your steadfast love will lead me home.
Fear yields itself to love and cannot withstand the light.
Just one lit candle dispels the darkness.
Each ray of love eases the pangs of fear.
O giver of the journey,
Companion me along the way.
Then will I recognise your face in each one I meet.
Yes,
Guide me into wholeness,
Harmony and balance.
That I may be a peaceful presence.
Let me give witness to your way that others may grow in trust and truth.
O Great Awakener,
Open the eyes and ears of my heart.
Let my dormant talents be made known.
For with jubilation would I enter your presence to love and serve in the great plan.
With loud voice will I extol you,
O Creator of the cosmos.
I will praise you among the peoples,
For you are comfort and blessings to all who call.
You love us into new life.
So on this second reading,
Returning to a few verses from the psalm.
Noticing any words or phrases that capture your attention.
For you,
O heart of all hearts,
Are the thread that connects each one of us,
That defines the interconnectedness of all being.
Though I am weak and yet have miles to go,
Your steadfast love will lead me home.
Fear yields itself to love and cannot withstand the light.
Just one lit candle dispels the darkness.
Each ray of love eases the pangs of fear.
And this final reading of those few verses.
Welcoming them into the deeper parts of yourself.
Inviting them to bring their gift.
Inviting those words to be hope and encouragement and invitation.
Be curious about how you want to respond and how they make you feel.
For you,
O heart of all hearts,
Are the thread that connects each one of us,
That defines the interconnectedness of all beings.
Though I am weak and yet have miles to go.
Your steadfast love will lead me home.
Fear yields itself to love.
And cannot withstand the light.
Just one lit candle dispels the darkness.
Each ray of love eases the pangs of fear.
You you Beloveds,
May you know yourself held in the heart of all hearts.
May you know yourself deeply connected to everything that lives and to the creator of it all.
May you know yourself led home to your own heart and your own spirit time and time again.
May you know yourself safe and deeply loved.
Amen.
