Hello,
Today's practice will be doing a self-discovery meditation.
By quieting our minds,
We can ask ourselves who we really are,
What our true goals and values are.
So you can get comfortable in a seated upright position and with your eyes open,
Taking in all your surroundings.
Noticing all the different colors,
Shapes,
Sizes.
And on the next out breath,
Gently closing your eyes.
Also beginning to notice all the different sounds in the room.
Not judging any sound in particular,
Just noticing.
Becoming aware of all the different points of contact between you and the surface below.
Maybe noticing where your hands are placed and the warmth underneath.
How the material of your clothing feels against your skin.
Becoming aware of any smells.
Noticing if there's any taste in your mouth.
And bringing your attention to the breath.
And noticing where in your body you feel the breath the most.
So noticing how each inhale and each exhale moves in your body.
And whenever your mind takes you away with a thought,
Just gently returning it back to the breath in a kind and patient way.
And beginning to move your attention to your heart,
Your heart center.
And if you find it helpful,
You can gently place a hand over your heart and noticing if you feel a heartbeat.
And if not,
That's perfectly okay.
Noticing if there's any color or shape that comes to mind when you place your attention here.
By becoming our authentic selves,
We see our true values and goals.
So we'll start by asking ourselves this question.
Not forcing an answer.
Asking yourself just like you'd ask a close friend.
What do I value?
When all distractions are put aside,
What is something that I value?
Not judging the answer,
Just letting the answer come naturally.
What are some ways that I can act in accordance with this value?
Again,
Just letting whatever answer come,
Come naturally.
The next question you can ask yourself,
What is the most important goal present in my life right now?
Let the answer come naturally.
Noticing if you feel pressured or excited.
Letting whatever feelings come up without letting it overwhelm you.
How can I start putting my goals into practice today?
How will this goal improve my life and how will it improve the lives of those around me?
And as we begin to end this practice,
Making the intention to start these goals and these values today.
Showing gratitude to yourself for taking the time out to do this practice.
So beginning to slowly reconnect with the surface on which you're seated on.
Noticing how your body touches the surface below.
Noticing if your weight falls evenly.
And any other points of contact.
How your clothing feels against your skin.
Where the palms of your hands are resting.
Noticing any sounds in the room.
Any smells.
Maybe there's a taste in your mouth.
And in your own time,
Whenever you feel ready to do so,
Gently opening your eyes.
Returning to all your surroundings.
My name is Rachel and thank you for joining me here today.
