This is Helena from Therapy with Helena.
Today I'll be guiding you through a gentle grounding practice.
You can use this practice whenever you need a moment to ground.
Maybe you're experiencing some overwhelm or anxiety.
Maybe you need a moment to just really re-center yourself.
Let's get started.
Just taking a moment to settle into the space that you're in.
You might just gently soften the gaze or close the eyes.
Just making the body really comfortable if there's any adjustments that need to be made.
Then just taking a moment to connect with the sense of ground below your feet.
You might feel the soles of the feet.
Feeling the weight of the lower body.
Just helping your whole system feel that ground is here.
Feeling the safety and stability of the ground below you.
Feeling the support of whatever you're seated on.
Then taking a moment to draw your awareness from the soles of the feet all the way up to the very base of the spine.
You can imagine here that there's roots that begin to extend down from the base of the spine.
Down to the ground.
These roots extend down below the ground of whatever building that you're in.
Or maybe you're outside and you can really feel the earth below you.
Just really feeling the sense of your roots extending down from the base of the spine.
Reaching into the cool earth.
As your roots extend down to hold you really steady,
You can begin to feel this connection with this living,
Breathing being below you that you're a part of.
From your roots,
You can start to breathe in that grounding earth energy up from the roots.
All the way up the very length of the spine to the crown of the head.
Just letting this grounding earth energy dissolve into the body wherever it might be needed.
On the inhale,
You're breathing in this earth energy.
On the exhale,
You're just letting it dissolve and expand throughout the body.
Just a few more rounds of this beautiful,
Deep connection with earth by breathing up your roots and into the body.
Then you can take a moment to just rest your awareness on the heart center.
Maybe it even feels good to place one hand or both hands in the heart center.
Just take a moment to breathe in through the heart space.
Connecting with this area of center in your body.
Whenever you feel ready,
We'll just prepare to come out of this visualization and re-enter the space around you.
When you're ready,
You can make any little wiggles,
Any movements or stretches.
Ever so gently welcoming the light back in as you open the eyes.
