Close your eyes.
Take a breath in and let it go.
You came here for a reason.
Maybe you've been hard on yourself today.
Maybe for longer than that.
Either way,
I want you to know that you're not broken.
You're human,
And there's a difference.
Self-criticism has a way of disguising itself as motivation.
It tells you that if you just push harder,
Judge yourself more,
Hold yourself to a stricter standard,
Eventually you'll get it right.
But here's what's actually true.
The harshest voice in your head has never once been the reason you grew.
Growth came from awareness,
From grace,
From deciding you were worth the effort.
So let's put that voice down for a few minutes.
Breathe in slowly.
And out.
Think about the last thing you criticized yourself for.
Don't relive it,
Just name it quietly in your mind.
Now ask yourself,
Would you say what you said to yourself to someone you loved?
Would you use those words,
That tone,
That certainty that they had failed?
You wouldn't,
Because you understand that people deserve patience,
That mistakes are part of the process,
That one moment doesn't define an entire person.
You are also a person who deserves that.
Breathe in.
And out.
I want you to place one hand over your chest,
Right over your heart.
Feel it beating.
That rhythm has carried you through every hard day you've ever had.
Every embarrassment,
Every setback,
Every moment you were convinced you weren't enough.
And it kept going.
You kept going.
That's not weakness.
That's resilience that most people never stop to acknowledge in themselves.
Today,
You're acknowledging it.
You don't have to earn your own compassion.
You don't have to fix everything first,
Or prove something,
Or wait until you've done better.
You can offer yourself kindness right now exactly as you are in the middle of whatever you're carrying.
Take one more deep breath in.
Hold it gently.
And release.
The critic in your mind is not the truth of who you are.
It's a habit,
And habits can change.
You are allowed to be a work in progress and still be worthy of love,
Especially your own.
I'm Aaron Hubach.
I'm glad you were here today.
Now carry that gentleness with you into the rest of your day.
You've earned it.
