Hello and welcome to today's meditation.
Today we are going to focus on wealth,
What it means to be wealthy.
The first thing I'd like you to do is find a position which is comfortable for you.
Whether it be sitting on a chair with your feet firmly on the ground,
Sitting on a cushion with your legs crossed or perhaps lying down on a mat or a bed.
Making this decision which is comfortable for you in this moment.
And whichever position you choose just really coming home to your body.
Noticing the contact of the body against the floor or the bed,
The chair.
And if it feels comfortable for you gently closing the eyes or lowering the gaze to the ground.
And just taking the moment to acknowledge the conscious choice that you have made to take time for yourself.
You could have done something else at this moment but you chose to be here.
And coming to notice the breath.
Really taking notice of the inhale and the exhale.
Just being aware of it,
Not trying to change in any way.
We have a tendency to change our breath once we notice it.
But just being aware that the breath is able to do its job by itself without us having to try and control it.
And the breath represents one of our major wealths in life.
Arguably the most important wealth in life.
To breathe.
What a blessing.
To inhale and to exhale.
Something so precious.
Something we don't even consciously take notice of in our day to day activities,
In our busyness.
It's something which is so incredibly important.
Vital for life.
And here we are now able to breathe.
To inhale and to exhale.
I'd now like you to turn your attention to the eyes.
And then think about the process of the eyes.
How we are able to see so many wonderful things in our daily lives.
From the very first moment when we wake up on a new day and we open our eyes and we can see what a blessing that is to be able to see how wealthy we are to be able to see.
To see the light of a new day.
To see the trees,
The birds,
Our families and loved ones.
The ability to see makes us wealthy.
Good.
I invite you now to just cast your mind back into a happy memory that you've experienced in your life.
Something that to you was pure beauty when you saw it.
Perhaps a sunrise or a sunset.
Perhaps the first time you saw a loved one.
Anything which was amazing to see and just really appreciating the fact that you were able to have that moment and bring in the gratitude and awareness that you had that experience.
The beauty that you saw thanks to your eyes.
Now I'd like you to turn your attention to the ears.
Perhaps as I mention the ears you notice some sensations in that part of the body.
Perhaps some tingling or throbbing or aching or perhaps there are no sensations and that is absolutely fine.
And now just rethinking about the beauty of the ears.
How they enable us to communicate with each other.
To understand one another.
All of the noises and sounds that we hear each day.
How fortunate we are to have ears and to hear how wealthy we are.
To hear a loved one say our name.
To hear the sound of animals,
The birds singing in the morning.
So many beautiful sounds.
Our ears enable us to hear how wealthy we are to hear how wealthy we are to hear.
Now the voice here.
Placing our attention onto the feet in the body.
The feet,
The legs,
How they enable us to do so much day to day.
And when we wake up in the morning and we step out of our bed and we begin our day,
The journey of the day,
The path that we walk,
The beauty of the legs to enable us to do that.
To take a step forward to reach our destination.
How wonderful the legs and feet are to enable us to do that.
What a blessing to be able to walk.
How wealthy we are to be able to walk.
And even though at times in the busyness of life we can forget,
We can forget the important things,
The things which really truly make us wealthy.
We can pause and take a breath and remember that wealth is not to do with what is in your pocket,
How much you have,
What you own.
But being able to breathe is wealth.
Being able to see is wealth.
Being able to hear is wealth.
Being able to walk is wealth.
Being able to touch is wealth.
Being able to taste is wealth.
We are so wealthy.
And I encourage you to connect on that deeper level to the wealth that you have and to be grateful for the wealth that you have.
Now just reconnecting with the breath and really truly taking in the beauty of the breath as you inhale and exhale.
What a blessing.
Thank you so much for taking this time to sit with me to reconnect with wealth that we have.
And I hope that you are able to carry this forward to the next part of your day.
And when you are ready,
If your eyes will close,
You can gently open them.
And remember,
You are wealthy.
