Today we're going to focus on the importance of meditation.
So finding a position which is comfortable,
Where the body is dignified,
Sitting up tall or lying down,
Choosing what feels right in this moment and connecting with the breath.
Perhaps noticing the rise and fall of the chest as you inhale and exhale.
Or perhaps noticing the rise and fall of your shoulders as you breathe in and out.
And beginning to reflect on what has brought you here today.
Why have you chosen to meditate?
To help us answer this question,
It's important that we consider our intention.
So what are we intending to do when we meditate?
Your intention might be to simply be more mindful,
To be more aware,
To practice mindfulness,
To be more present.
What is your intention?
And once we've brought an awareness to our intention to meditate,
We then go on to reflect on the motivation behind meditating.
So what motivates you to meditate?
What encourages you to meditate?
So even when you have the intention to be mindful,
For instance,
There are times when we may not want to meditate or feel we have the time to meditate.
And so it's really important to consider our motivation.
What is your motivation?
What will encourage you to meditate in those times when meditating doesn't come so natural to us?
So perhaps a motivation could be to have a greater sense of well-being or to help others to become more mindful.
What motivates you to meditate?
And as we reflect on our intention and our motivation,
We can acknowledge that each time we make the time to meditate,
To stop and connect with ourselves.
That is each step towards your overarching goal.
So your aim.
And by taking this time to meditate,
Can really uncover deep feelings,
Needs,
Thoughts that you may not be aware of as you move through your day.
And by connecting with ourselves this way,
We can start to become more knowledgeable about ourselves.
And make informed decisions.
And develop our character.
So I encourage you to begin your meditations by reflecting on your intention and motivation for meditating.
As a way to ground you into your meditation practice.
In order to reach your goals in life.
And as we draw this meditation to an end,
Just remembering that every time you make the choice to meditate,
You are continuing on your path to greater self wisdom.
