There is a small island off the western coast of France called Ballet L'Homer.
It is a small,
Serene island with an incredibly diverse landscape,
From high cliffs to charming villages,
To beautiful turquoise waters,
To long sandy beaches.
As I describe it to you,
Get into a comfortable position and allow yourself to imagine this place vividly.
Make sure that you will not be disturbed so that you can fully enjoy this island walk and notice how it makes you feel.
You can hear some seabirds flying overhead as you imagine yourself in the small,
Beautiful village situated in a cove on this island.
Four-story buildings line the seaside,
Coloured in whites and creams with some painted light pink and yellow.
The rooftops are a matching grey and you can see the chimneys for when the weather turns cool.
Some of the buildings have awnings of sapphire blue and pale yellow.
Some buildings have very small balconies,
Only large enough to hold a few potted plants.
And the shutters on the windows vary from white to mint green to leaf green and some are shades of dark pink.
This is a beautiful little town,
Bustling with the energy of its people.
You will stop in the village later to have a crepe or two,
But for now you want to walk along the nature footpaths nearby to begin exploring this picturesque island.
As you walk away from the village,
There are several footpaths through the tall grasses that lead to various nature areas,
Ruins or beautiful secluded coves with turquoise waters and sandy beaches.
You decide to take the path that leads to the cliffside to see the unbelievable colours of the sea and towering jagged rock formations that thrilled Claude Monet and inspired many of his paintings over a century ago.
You walk along the beige coloured footpath that so many footsteps before you have walked and notice the low growing plant life surrounding you are colours of sage greens.
Smoothed rocks aid as steps taking you up the cliffside and as you climb you can see the cobalt blue horizon of the bay peaks over the hillside in front of you.
You are careful with your step because the cliff is steep.
The sound of the mighty ocean presents itself as a deep roar and low hissing and splashing sounds.
Waves have been crashing and carving this landscape for thousands of years.
You make it to the exact view where Monet once perched his canvas.
It is spectacular.
Notice how this place makes you feel.
A dozen jagged rocks are congregating in the sea,
Growing from large at the base to more treacherous and narrow at their tops.
No two are the same.
They almost look like dancers striking a pose in the bay.
You are so high above sea level that you are looking down on these magnificent structures.
Their tops do not even cross the horizon line where the ocean meets the sky.
The only plant life that can grow on these rocks acts as a dark green blanket covering the lower half because the energy of the sea below is constantly changing and the winds are demanding.
This is not an ocean that you can swim in.
The waves splash relentlessly against the cliffs and rocks,
Causing the turquoise water to foam and bubble.
You watch the sunset turn the ocean pink and the sky violet.
Find a soft place to sit and let this moment seep into your memories forever.
You are the only one here.
Except for you,
This place is devoid of any human activity and you feel entirely safe.
The sunset is growing to darkness and it's time for you to make your way back to the village.
Continue breathing slowly as you glance one last time at this remarkable seascape,
Fully experiencing it with all of your senses.
With each inhale,
Imagine peace and harmony entering your body.
And with each exhale,
Visualize exhaustion,
Tension and stress leaving your body.
When you feel ready,
You can return to the present moment and in your own time,
Gently open your eyes,
Knowing that you can return to this vision and sense of relaxation at any time throughout your day to help calm and refresh you.
