Hello,
This is Élouvée of Sylvanosity,
And today we're going to talk about giving our thoughts a new track to follow.
When you're trying to fall asleep,
Do you find that at times your thoughts run around in circles and don't let you rest?
Well,
Then hopefully this short meditation will help.
But first,
Let's pay attention to our breathing.
When we breathe in,
We expand our diaphragm to draw in more air,
Decreasing our diaphragm to push as much air out as possible.
Deep cleansing breaths in,
Out.
Often when I am dusting off the day and preparing for rest,
I like to think of my breath kind of as if I am the green woman,
The face in the tree.
My breath is blowing away the leaves and preparing a comfy bed for me.
Now let's focus on our body and on the parts of our body that feel tense or are holding in the worries of our day or the work of our day and let it go.
You can start in your face or your feet.
It's your choice.
But tighten your muscles.
Hold and relax.
Tighten.
Hold.
Relax.
Move from the top of your body to the bottom.
Move from the bottom to the top.
Tighten.
Hold.
Relax.
Focus the longest on the parts of your body that feel the tightest.
Tighten.
Hold.
Relax.
Try that a few more times.
Breathing as you go.
Allow your body to settle in.
Perhaps you might want to try a few extensions if your shoulders are tight.
Push them up.
Push them down.
Extend your left leg.
Extend your right.
And relax.
Imagine yourself floating in a cloud.
Let your thoughts become as light as droplets of water to be released from the cloud and dropped down one thought at a time.
You can tell you can imagine the soothing sound of rain.
Now,
Perhaps it is a worry about something you did wrong that repeats itself.
Know that mistakes we make are our own,
But if we can apologize with sincerity and authenticity and prepare to do better next time,
We can let go.
I apologize.
I will learn from my mistakes and I will let it go because I know I cannot change it.
Consider these thoughts as pages in a book.
They are not the only pages in that book.
They do not tell your story.
In fact,
They are but one page in a hundred of all the wonderful things you've done well.
So give them perspective.
Look at that page as you file it in among the hundreds of pages around it.
Now for tonight,
Close the book,
Put it on a shelf and walk away.
Maybe the thoughts that run around inside your head are about the things you've left undone.
Well,
You know,
They'll still be undone tomorrow and that's okay because tomorrow is a new day,
A new opportunity to complete tasks.
And here's the best part.
Tomorrow you'll be one day more experienced,
One day the wiser,
And you'll do better at completing that task than you would have yesterday.
So for thoughts about undone things,
Project them into the future.
Have them walk down a road that leads to tomorrow.
You might imagine what tomorrow might look like or where you plan to start your day.
Imagine that destination at the end of this road and send those thoughts packing.
Now on the other hand,
You may have worries inside your mind about what could happen.
The first step with thoughts of what might happen is using a little bit of shrinking potion.
Oftentimes our worries about what if become bigger than they really should be.
So imagine as if you have a tiny tablespoon.
Make it as ornate or simple as you care to.
It is right over the top of a glass jar and in that jar is shrinking potion.
Tiny little crystals,
You sprinkle over your concerns about what might happen because for tonight they shall become tiny,
Small,
Insignificant.
So much so that they will seep into the ground.
They will turn smaller than seeds because you should not let what if worries grow or they'll become a bramble of weeds.
Instead,
Let them feed the thoughts you want to grow,
Thoughts of calm,
Of comfort,
Of relaxation,
Of the things that make you feel tired and relaxed.
Now the best idea is if you have a thought that comes into your head that begins to repeat,
Give it a straight path.
Send it as far away from you as you can.
Don't let it circle back.
Put up your stop sign.
No admittance.
Preparing for slumber.
So if thoughts are running around inside your head in a circle,
Imagine yourself taking that circle as if it was a necklace,
Undoing the clasp and straightening it out.
Let the thoughts run the course from one end of the necklace to the other and then imagine them continuing off into a distance you could no longer see.
Because now,
Now's the time to relax.
Reflections are over.
Now is the time to let go,
To release,
To sleep.
Thank you for joining me.
This has been A.

Sleep deep.
