Namaste.
In this Bhagavad Gita series,
We're going to talk about what it means to awaken,
What it means to walk the spiritual path.
In the Bhagavad Gita,
Chapter 2,
Verse 69,
Sri Krishna says,
What is night for all beings is a time of awakening for the self-controlled.
And when all beings are awake,
It is night for the enlightened one.
So for so many of us,
In life,
We do our duty.
We go to work,
We come back.
We have relationships with our husband or our wife.
We have duties as a mother or a child.
We watch some TV and we go to sleep.
And we do it all over again the next day.
And as we continue on this journey,
Some days we're going to experience some joy.
And some days we're going to experience some suffering.
One day we might get a raise and the next day we might get fired.
One day we might fall in love with somebody and the next day they might cheat on us.
So like this,
We go through life becoming a slave to what happens to us externally.
Because most of the things that happen in our life,
We do not have control over.
Tomorrow you can go outside and be hit by a bus or you can get dementia.
These are things outside the scope of our control.
But yet we let these things affect our joy,
Our happiness or our suffering.
The one that is awakened continues to do the same duty.
Continues to go to work,
Continues to have relationships.
But they see the world in a completely different lens.
Every action that they perform is with a higher awareness,
Which is called kriya,
Which means action and awareness.
Every action they see as an opportunity to experience life,
An opportunity to serve,
To love,
An opportunity to grow on the spiritual journey.
There is a saying that you can be a rat and win a rat race,
But at the end of the day you're still a rat.
So in that way,
For so many of us,
We go through life trying to be successful materially.
But never really experience that peace and that purpose and that joy,
That deep joy inside of ourselves.
And so therefore we're doing our duty,
But we are asleep to higher spiritual awareness.
While the self-controlled,
The enlightened,
They are doing their duty,
But always with this awareness that every action takes us closer to realizing our true nature.
So this is why here Krishna says,
What is a time of sleep for all beings is a time of awakening for the enlightened one.
So when we say that we have had an awakening,
Or we say that we are on the spiritual path,
That does not mean that we go into a cave.
That does not mean that we deny our external duties.
It means that we have a deeper awareness of every action that we perform,
Understanding that every action is an opportunity to learn,
To grow and to love.
So with that,
I hope all of you awaken more and more on your spiritual journey.
And you're more and more aware of the intention and the reason behind every action that you do in your life.
Much love.
