So,
You made it.
You're here a little early,
And for a few minutes,
There's nothing you have to do.
You can just sit.
Settle back into your seat,
And let your hands rest wherever they land.
If it feels okay,
You can let your eyes close,
Or just let your gaze soften.
Take a second to notice the support under you,
The seat,
The back of the seat,
Even the ground holding the car.
You don't have to hold yourself up right now.
You can just let yourself be held.
Now just notice your breathing.
You don't have to do any special breathing.
You don't have to fix anything.
Just notice what's already happening.
Where do you feel your breath the most today?
Is it at your nose,
Or your chest,
Or your belly?
Wherever it is,
Just let it be simple and easy,
Almost like the breath is just doing itself.
As you breathe out,
See if something can soften just a little.
Maybe your shoulders,
Your jaw,
Your hands,
Nothing big,
Just a small letting go.
You might start to notice some quieter things,
Gentle movement in your ribs,
A little space opening in your back,
Soft settling somewhere in your chest.
You don't have to go looking for any of that.
You notice it.
That's great.
If you don't,
That's also great.
Just keep coming back to the feeling of breathing.
When your mind wanders,
Just notice that and gently come back to the breath again.
Now,
Begin to notice your body as a whole,
Not just parts,
Just you.
How does it feel right now?
A little tight,
A little tired,
Or a little more at ease?
Whatever you notice is okay.
Let the next few breaths move through you.
Each exhale,
A little more releasing.
Each inhale,
A simple arriving.
Just for a moment,
Let this be a pause,
An in-between moment,
Nothing to figure out,
Nothing to get ahead of,
Just this breath sitting here.
Stay with that for a few more easy breaths.
When you're ready,
Start to come back.
Feel your hands,
Your feet,
The space around you.
Your eyes are closed.
You can let them open.
Then take one easy,
Natural breath and carry this small sense of being here as you open the door and step into the next part of your day.
